The conclusion many people seem to have arrived at is that despite previous guidance on how the frame of a settlement of this kind might be constructed, instead BT, the funder, the advisor(s) and LOAM on the inside all decided to capitulate so the funder got paid, BT gets paid, LOAM get out and we get shafted?

Does that about sum it up?

There’s a lot of narratives being circulated here and I’m worried about the motives of some and the intelligence and wisdom of others.

I’m also of the view that some of the alleged ‘trusted’ posters are chameleons……as evidenced by this forums accelerated degeneration into the farce of the last 24 hours that started since last Friday’s news of a settlement that evidently meant we were all going to be millionaires. On Monday apparently we should exercise more caution and by Thursday we have all been robbed and BT is a crook like Eddleman before him.

I heard that too. The $64 thousand million billion dollar question is have I made it all up or is there any truth to it. For clarity I just made it up otherwise there would be a RNS not a rumour post on an anonymous bulletin board.

If I’d listened to this section of the Q&A a month or two ago I’d have agreed with Sammy88 more. Also if I listened to it on Thursday or Sunday the two subsequent RNS’s wouldn’t have caused me anything like the same concerns as they did.

I recommend everyone listen from that time index for some comfort as it’s playing out exactly as described.

But BBD I disagree that display has been put into question as you suggest. Quite the opposite in fact. Samsung are going to pay up. Yes it may be discounted but pay they will. What BT says is that “ANYONE”. producing CFQD’s is highly likely to be using their patented process and once the Samsung case settles fund could be used (or via the same litigation funder) to pursue action against other companies, just not Samsung.

And what do we think those other companies will do if served with an action after Samsung just settled albeit under patent peace it’s going to be acknowledged they infringed…..?

Sammy you've missed the bit about it being based on lost income not lost revenue and there's a huge difference when doing the maths (or the math if you want to do it in USD)

Revenue is total. Income is with deductions. I suspect the margins are quite low over the piece perhaps only 20% even though they have reduced overheads and improved efficiency and therefore margins lately, which presumably is why it was mentioned in previous presentations if I recall correctly.....expressly for this negotiation.

FFS it says this in the RNS....please take time to read it slowly and carefully and then stop posting about it. I've highlighted in caps the important bits and added asterisks on the main point!!!!

Nanoco are being paid now for future royalties. They have agreed on this and its an agreement between Samsung and Nanoco alone.

BT said in the RNS -
"A settlement provides certainty to all our stakeholders and further reinforces our confidence in the validity and enforceability of the Group's global patent portfolio"

So anyone else using the tech will be open to the same legal processes, but not Samsung. Who are paying up....

Let's put this one to bed.....it's in the RNS that the agreement will [also] cover "FUTURE PATENT LITIGATION"

This was a negotiation and it's important to understand the value of time and money. This way BT can focus on the organic business and put this award on the bottom line assets.

Samsung were never going to pay hundreds of millions in reality.

I suspect BT is confident more about the Nanoco future business for providing the financial returns than he might have been before and that has influenced a speedy resolution.

-will include the lifetime patent value (otherwise there would be an admittance of 'guilt'
-will be global
-will be for component value only i.e. cost of QD film
-means we don't need to borrow (hopefully ever again)
-Monies can be invested.
-I expect no 'special dividend
-I'm guessing at around $125m total and $62.5m to Nanoco

I'm in this for the long term. Today I'm expecting the shares to drop in value. It's a PO we need now.
