Thanks Luke for the links. We really are at the start of this transport revolutionary change and clearly their are many issues for the industry to deal with. The one that still makes my eyes water is initial cost of very mediocre cars. Then the kind of chicken and egg scenario we are in of not enough charging points throughout the country. Last but not least our power providers are in a struggle at times to literally keep the lights on as investment has been poor in this area for a while. Lets be honest peak charging time i.e when most people have finished the running about with work and school runs and such, is going to be say after tea time when they all want the recharge for the next day. imo this is going to be an issue. Not insurmountable , but an issue. However for us here they are not our problem the demand for nickel as we know will be huge worldwide and we are in the right place.

With you there Westie, 59 later this year, been retired 8 years now and living the dream. But one can always dream bigger;-)

Wasa, I looked around at what was on offer in the financial market place with regards to investment, and took note of a lot of people loosing money in various pipe dream schemes and the banks paying next to nothing to hold your money, and thought I could do better with some of my disposable income. If I didn't I have myself to blame, but if I do its mine and not a few crumbs they decide your return is. Id sooner be master of my own ship and risk what I can afford rather than see it slowly erode away. Hopefully fortune will favour the brave.

Thanks Wasa. I appreciate your posts, and others they are of a great help of places to look for information. I have spent most of my life helping others in one way or another, and on some of my other investments I too try to help with posts when I can. EV is the future and so picking a winner within this field would you think be easier than some other areas. More a case of I have a winner, its just how big a winner.

Wassa, very similar story. Another thing I have had to learn is patience, and that to me was/is a tough one. But I continue to work on it. Timing is imo key backed by research and knowledge, and a good dose of luck never goes amiss. I am hoping to have the luxury of being able to wait for the right moment. Cheers.

Thanks zebbo, I learn much from many on these bbs. I am ex army/fire service so no background in this game at all. Not knowledgeable enough in this area, but I think in there case the punishment's for past mistakes has been over exaggerated and the reasons I bought in to them still holds true in my mind. I was just trying to point out that it is such a difficult game to play, and there always seems to be something from left field. If there is one mistake I have learnt from it is putting to much of my resources in one company and putting it in to quick and not phasing it in. This I am now doing with HZM. All pointers greatly appreciated.

Gents, you are way more savvy than I at this judging by your conversation. But as regards the market being very strange on how it does or does not price a stock. If you look at my profile you will see am in on a gold mining stock. I have been since it was a mud field. They have had a few problems in their first year but they are now ramping up production and everything is going swimmingly. We are not far short of half the SP now then when we were that mud field. Have a look and go figure because most of us long termers there cant fathom it.

On a quick review, the one I found was powered actually by an 18cc petrol motor, but the one at the show was powered by an inverted battery powered electric drill with a long shaft to the rear driving the propeller. sadly I cant find any of that one but a great british man in his shed job.

Forgot to mention, get lazy in my retirement, so love my electric canoe. Seriously nothing better than cruising up at about 4knots silently apart from a small hum of the motor and the water lapping off the bow. Known as trolling motors. Very popular in America where I got the idea from.
As a motorcyclist I recently visited the Carol Nash show in Stafford and was drawn to a fantastic looking side car outfit I think from the 50s. The sidecar caught my eye because of its nautical look, and low and behold it was detachable and then battery powered as a two seater boat complete with tiny capstan wheel and tiller. There is a video on YouTube, not of that particular one but similar vintage, I will see if I can find and post the link. Brought a smile to my face.

Thanks Dogberry, not behind, just aware the tec for the HGV trucks is not yet proven/available at a cost effective price. As for vans, I was in Berlin just before Christmas and opposite my hotel there was a showroom for VAG and in there was the new VW LT EV circa 100k. A touch expensive for a van at the moment. As for the expense of use. I often pose the question when discussing the subject with friends, that where is the government, in the UK at least going to get the revenue that is lost from fossil fuel sales? The motorist will pay, its too lucrative for them to give up. They are already changing the rules on taxation of new vehicles EVs or not. Even Tesla used to give you free electric using their cars, but they now charge. I do envisage the AA and RAC and others being very busy in the initial years, as I am still amazed when I see people run out of fuel by the side of the road. EV vehicles including small floating craft have been around for nearly as long as the ICE but not on mass. As a time served City and Guilds engineer my knowledge is basic and my research limited, but very long winded and tiresome to put everything down in a short post on the bb. But off on my usual European tour this year so will keep an eye out for an EV ferry if we get chance to use one on our travels. Thanks for the heads up.

An as ex weapons instructor, if any of my troop missed the targets as much as these brokers do, I would snatch the weapon back quick smart and teach them how to use the mop properly. But hey, we live in hope.

The same type of issue with large delivery trucks, but the initial development will probably be a hybrid and when the power and size overtake the hybrid systems then maybe the future. I was thinking more small leisure craft, but thanks again for the link.

Funny thought though. I thought it was going to be about the electrification of boats;-)

Thanks Luke and Jailbird. Interesting views and not the first article to point out these issues. We have got to be in a solid investment here, and the timing imo is pretty sweet if you have the patience/ metal to hold on tight.
