ISPartners, a hedge fund manager based in Zurich, launched the Helium Rising Stars Fund on Monday. It is follow-on venture of the Helium Special Situations Fund, an £80m ($131m) single manager hedge fund focusing on UK long-bias small and micro caps, launched on 30th July 2006. The fund returned 33% last year (and 380% since inception).

The Helium Rising Stars Fund, a Cayman-domiciled fund, will invest in quoted small companies and up to 30% of NAV in private equity type of investments, predominantly pre-IPO situation (with less that 24 months to listing), public-to-private transactions and private placements. Its focus will be on UK companies with a market cap of less that £50m across all sectors excluding mining and natural resources.

This event driven fund "with an identifiable soft or hard catalyst" will be a concentrated portfolio of around 15 holdings, with long-only bets and the ability to hedge systematic risks. According to data provider Hedge Fund Research, event driven funds returned 12.48% in 2013 and 10.62% in the last five years.

The fund will be co-managed by David Newton and Christian Benz. They also run the special sits fund.

"The opportunity set in the UK micro cap area is plentiful and we have already identified some fascinating investment prospects," the managers say in an email. "Additionally the positive development of the UK economy as well as some significant improvements for AIM investments (abolition of stamp duty on AIM stocks) should further support our investment case."

The abolition of stamp duty and stamp duty reserve tax on growth market shares was announced last year and will have effect on and after 28th April 2014.

There are early signs of a possible increase in the number of people testing positive for Covid in England and Northern Ireland, officials from the Office for National Statistics say.

Their report suggests the small rise is likely to be driven by the BA.4 and BA.5 variants of Omicron.

Studies show these variants may be able to spread slightly more easily than "older" Omicron variants.

The latest estimates suggest around 990,000 people in the UK have Covid.

That is about 1.5% of the population (roughly one in 65 people) - up from about one in 70 the week before.

The latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) covers the week ending 2 June.

The Minister for Health has warned about rising Covid-19 cases after the number of patients in hospital almost double in less than a fortnight.

Stephen Donnelly said it has soared to over 300 patients with Covid-19 from around 160 a week and a half ago.

Figures from the Department of Health shows a sharp rise since the end of May.

Tanaiste Leo Varadkar warned it could be the start of a Covid “summer wave”, while Mr Donnelly said they are watching the figures closely.

Is this what people mean when they describe AIM as the Junior market?

2 x trades so far today for a Fiver and just over a Tenner...a single customer spends more buying their morning starbucks fix than we are seeing in trades here. WTF is going on with this market. DVRG at lows to buy but market (ie PIs) still not showing any interest unless you count those 2 buys this AM. Attendance at the UK Investor Show doesn't seem to have sparked anyone into buying DVRG whether they be larger players or PIs. Can't say I was overly impressed with Gerry's presentation to what was a couple of blokes who really didn't seem that interested and were probably just there for a rest. I think that PR should be left to someone who's actually good at it. Gerry came across as quite desperate and very rushed as if someone was telling him to hurry up and finish as the cleaners wanted to tidy up the room for the next lot.

This share is out performing Bitcoin now and everyone says Bitcoin is an unregulated nightmare and investors should not be surprised when it falls off a cliff.....yet the Exec Chairman here will tell you that is all the fault of the "volatile" AIM market ie double speak for rainbow chasing PIs when in reality it's heavy hitters like Helium who are reeking havoc in this share but then they are Gerry's best mates and he can't say anything about their behaviour.

Been there seen it and done it with plenty of other stocks, sometimes you just have drip feed shares like that over a number of days and just let them go without any limits at whatever prices MMs will give you just you can exit. No point trying to tell MMs what you will accept, they can just sit on their hands or trying to sell too large a volume (again they can just ignore those trades they don't like). ps what is TIou btw?

After last months trading update in #csfs Cornerstone, I'm grateful at being able to accumulate more sub 20 ahead of Results in next fortnight. Not often a stock ticks every single box for me but this does.

Full Year Results published 8 June 2021 so next RNS could be issued any time soon, hopefully next week. I would be a buyer before they come out based on that last trading update.

Dropping like a stone out of the blue, no RNS and no sell trades I can see????
