Ref: "I am sure you will recall how we went about drilling in the Weald back in the 80*s"
Answer:
"We take a look at the Weald Basin in South East England."-Sharetalk, June 14, 2018. Its an interview with Chris Pullan, Consultant to Magellan Petroleum USA.
In essence, Magallan Petroleum, a major stakeholder of Horse Hill has done a Re-Evaluation of the Weald.
From the article as above via Chris Pullan, Geologist and Consultant to Magellan Petroleum USA [now Tellurian Inc]
"HORSE HILL, one of the most talked about DISCOVERIES IN THE UK for decades- NOT JUST BY I N D U S T R Y...."
"More than 70% of the wells in the Weald Basin most of which were drilled between 1960*s and early 80 have encounted hydrocarbon shows. There was evidence of hydrocarbons at several levels, so why were they NOT followed up PROPERLY until NOW? ...but mostly I think we just didnt LOOK HARD ENOUGH AT THE RESULTS."
...but also a NEW UNEXPLORED play, the interbedded and stacked KIMMERIDGIAN LIMESTONES."
"However, seismic reprocessing suggested the well was offstructure, on the downthrow side of the major bounding fault. By 2013, MAGELLAN was ready to drill a new well on the upthrown side of fault." [Ref: Horse Hill]
"Earlier this year, VERY SUCCESSFUL FLOW TESTING was carried out on these horizons and LIGHT SWEET OIL was produced from BOTH reservoirs at HIGH RATES. This is particularly exciting, as it indicates that the KIMMERIDGE micrites are NATURALLY FRACTURED."
"Along with the new vintrinite reflectance data, the test results have RE-DEFINED the limit of the MATURITY of the KIMMERIDGE SOURCE, suggesting that it is MATURE over a GREATER AREA than previously expected, possibly up to the Northern bounding fault, thus considerably Expanding the OVERALL POTENTIAL OF THE BASIN."
Comment:
The article also talks of gas and the whole article is from Chris Pullan. Mr Pullan also talks of Conoco and as we know Balcombe is awaiting for Angus to flow test.
Note that from the article, the INDUSTRY is aware and from the article there are many details from the Magellan re-evaluation that is too long to post.
As for value and the no of barrels needed to justify the mkt cap of UKOG, it has been posted before:
1) Sanderson said in a recent interview that the Kimmeridge is not reflected in the share price.
2) Xodus Apr 2018 CPR also said so pertaining to Horse Hill and Broadford Bridge from recall as I posted it earlier.
This is referring to the Kimmeridge and Xodus has taken note of Schlumberger and Nutech*s work.
Xodus said that it would be in the New CPR to come.
3) First Equity Research has produced a note for another AIM co who has a stake in Horse Hill. First Equity gave a valuation for Horse Hill itself and by extrapolation of UKOG*s stake in Horse Hill, it amounts to some $375 million. This equates to a share price of some 3p for UKOG based on that $375 million
