We rarely mention the Carbon Capture and storage on the boards but Wintershall seem pretty big players in this business.

It will never be exciting like oil or gas but could be a steady income for decades to come.

I’ve never been a huge fan as it’s a bit of a crackpot country but they need the revenue from Zama and hopefully we can get a decent deal which leaves enough for everyone.

If not cash in and move on to more lucrative areas. Happy either way.

One of the things I struggle to get my head around with this deal is…. Why?

Why did BASF who have very clearly stated again and again that they are withdrawing from the oil and gas sign up to a deal where they are basically just merging with an oil and gas company.

I put this alongside the fact that we outbid/witted companies many times our size and can really only get to we may be paying more than anyone else would.

Don’t get me wrong I’m 100% for the deal and hopefully some big new institutional investors will allow BASF. I just hope they aren’t allowed the same exit as the last bunch.

We are staying in the Princess Wilderness Lodge in Fairbanks Alaska.

Breakfast is £19 per person. Beer is £8.50 per pint, a 1 portion cereal portion is £5.50…,

Current production to us is 66k per day and Wintershall have been there for over 45 years….
