In any event, we need some good corporate news re BASF or a strong trading update to move the share price past next resistance at 207-217.

Its started to drift on low volume, which will helps shorting crews protect their positions.

Well I sense our MMs have become just a little more inclined to raise prices since the presentation on not really any volume.

Aye I know of the 30% rule, but I just cant help thinking that where theres billionaires involved, theres deals to be done, and convenient ways round the ruled to be found. Waivers have been known, and even if not, perhaps Slim could take say half the BASF stake to get him up to 29.9%?

Im sure Linda doesnt want the BASF exit saga to drag on endlessly and be another drag on the share price

With all the potential developments in Mexico, what if a corporate vehicle controlled by Carlos Slim were to acquire the BASF stake?

He could certainly raise the funds at current share prices, and would provide a faster exit for BASF

Well they peed on our chips somewhat in the last hour of trading (US influences?) but hopefully the postive moves will continue next week

Ive always thought personally that HBR is particularly prone to the effects of those shorters who lurk just below the disclosure threshold

You can still cause a lot of mischief with 0.49% of the shares (currently around 7m)

Just gone from 0.5% to 0.49% and therefore dropped below the reporting theshold

More than one person talking HBR down to 150, but as Nitro said, more info is known now about performance and forecasts

Was actually a pretty strong receovery from the 181 low, and the closing auction was well above the offer price. Who knows though, theyve managed to take Brent all the way back to the 12/6 price so its as if nothing happened

Well hopefully the event might bring in some new investors that are interested on buying in the open market as opposed to yet another placing. The story is potentially very good, but its almost being kept a secret currently

Ridiculous how HBR always gets smacked harder than other less well run oilers. Wont take much to get Brent back into the 70s and lets not forget the hedges at $78 that we have as a safeguard

Price looks like it fell back to (vigorously) test previous supprt at 189 and needs to stabilise above that now.

All over according to the orange one.....perhaps now Goldman Sachs can get back to their important mission of telling everyone that oil is heading into low 50s (sigh)

Apparently prices have plunged because the Iranian strikes on US bases were viewed as nothing more than a token gesture (errr... okay)

Brent now sub $74 (who saw that coming after the weekend events?)

Looks like the Saudis have indicated their willingness to turn on the taps further in the event of the oil price spiking

Well waddy know.....oil prices have settled back into recent range (sub $77) and markets are only 30 odd points off

Sometimes when the whole world expects a market to do a sure fire thing (eg oil prices) it has a way of surprising you. However who knows what will happen this week....perhaps its a slow burner

Its going to be interesting to see if HBR rises with the jump in Brent (currently +$5) or gets dragged down with the overall market because of the bigger war threat in the Middle East (FTSE futures off 60)

Personally im not comfortable with making profits on the back of warfare, but if Brent gets into the 80s there will be something very wrong if HBR doesnt move significantly higher as a result

Well we are finishing the week with a ridiculous 16.67% spread. Yes its end of week, but will certainly put off some people
