Yes indeed, reading back through the comopany's history is very sobering. And, yet, at the same time, totally inspirational in many ways. I quote from a bulletin in 2006:
'Lombard Medical Technologies PLC said it has temporarily suspended European clinical procedures involving its second generation of Aorfix endovascular stent graft and expects the move to trim 300,000 stg from 2006 sales.
Lombard, which reiterated it still expects a full-year loss of between 11.0-11.5 mln stg, made the announcement after discovering a problem with the placement of the graft in a small number of patients.
Lombard Medical said an investigation had found the problem was caused by a minor change in the manufacturing procedure of the delivery device for Aorfix.'
I imagine that set-back would have floored many a firm. But, lo and behold, just a few weeks ago, stents were approved for NHS use by NICE! This outfit is pretty determined, it has to be said. And seeing that £1.50 price on the graph back then gives me hope, rather than the collywobbles!
