The apparent speed with which a number of vacancies here were filled suggests candidates needed no incentive to apply, so the argument that once successful in securing employment with Ygen they somehow needed incentivising is one which is difficult to sustain in a huge economic downturn.
Taken in isolation, I agree today's option numbers are insignificant but cumulatively nearly 10% of the Company? Perhaps I should be incentivised for placing a portion of my hard-earned here.

Seems money for old rope really - at 18p where's the true incentive? Barring any disaster does anybody really expect the SP to be LESS than that in three years time? Why not really stretch the beneficiaries in that case and strike the price at say35p, double today's close?
The options culture from my perspective is from another (outdated) age, not one to be embraced in the eye of a major recession.

Well there's one of the RNSs to land - our ole friend share options.
I know the well churned out reasons for granting them, incentives, staff retention etc etc.
But in this present climate where jobs getting lost a plenty in the economy and with a becalmed SP, wouldn't it be nice if a Co. minnow such as we have here, could take stock of what's happening all around, and put a hold on these blasted options?

Appears to be a superb strategy of f targeting a specific, generally wealthier audience rather than mass-testing market. Think high margins, cash-generative and reliable revenues.

P3T3R, I agree 26p would be a derisory price for a quality outfit. I note the figures you provide for average premium for takeovers. However, strange times deal strange prices.
Take Marstons by way of example, a heavily indebted brewer and perveyor of microwaved pub meals. At the end of May it announced a quasi takeover by Carlsberg in the form of a JV partnership. The upshot? A mere 102% premium on the pre- announcement price.

I must say I much prefer the organic growth route with the occasional bolt-on acquisition and without too much dilution, reflected in a steadily improving SP. But then, if the price was right....

Most would agree with your aim summary and Ygen appears to be made of sterner stuff.
The disappointment today is that the CE was plugged ad nauseum as the forthcoming game changer which would instantly set the SP alight. Didn't happen. And now we move effortlessly and seemlessly on to the next big expectation, the results. And forward guidance. And launch of the already announced new products.
Something, sometime will ignite the SP I am convinced. I am beginning to wish for a good old- fashioned TO, with the juiciest of premiums of course.

I agree with JAdam (experienced analyst) that a Co. ,especially a tiddler as is the case here, needs absolutely to shout from the rooftops on occasion when really good news and/or milestones are reached. For example, this CE caper is supposed to open the key to the massive US market,no? Where's the mention here? PR is sometimes as relevant an issue as actual company numbers.
I also agree with bottom/ Cooper in respect of building bricks now in place and a reasonable expectation that the SP will re-energise in the not too distant future.

It seems as if we are still paying for the sins of the past patent misdemeanour. I expect the scars on LR's back are not yet fully healed, but his transformational achievements will be recognised soon by Mr market.

Interesting to see both sides of the discussion, flipper and Cooper, and each has valid arguments.
Having re-read again the three most relevant RNSs, I do feel the frustration regarding aspects of the content felt by individual and potentially larger investors. I believe this is more to do with explanation rather than concern with the company's potential going forward.
The 25/3 announcement appeared on the face of it to be a likely game changer for the company, which basically nailed its mast to the Covid train departing the station. The Ncyt tie-up and the NHS link, it was assumed, would provide a major revenue boost.
The trading update of 20/4 delivered the anticipated increased trading of the past.
Fast-forward to the 26/5 rns. I found the overdue CE reference to it being in effect just round the corner as unusual to say the least: announce when we get it, or explain why we haven't.
The same rns announced it is developing its own Covid-19 test kit, but it has also launched a Covid-19 testing kit service. Confused? I am, but then I readily admit to have limited understanding of the technicalities. Throw in the Clarigene kit, with a CE completion target date of July, and what could possibly go wrong?
Hopefully nothing, and the Co will burst forth and multiply earnings, revenue and-most importantly to me- a booming SP.
I glance reluctantly at the abundance of the RNS's emanating from our 'partner' Ncyt over the same period: what is striking is the sheer volume of numbers which the Co. readily hurls into the public domain.
Ygen by comparison is almost completely devoid of any figures which might give the merest indication of momentum; there may be a miriad of reasons why. On balance, however, I tend to notaflipper's arguments that communication is an issue and a valid explanation for the SP drift.
LR may be a busy boy, Cooper, but he either needs to provide adequate detail for investors in short-order or enlist the services of someone who can do the work for him. The twittersphere is not the way forward.

I just wouldn't dismiss outright any potential value of an Agm attendance, or any other legitimate line of enquiry as to a Co.'s fortunes.
Yes, we depend primarily on what information is in the public domain but the SP has usually moved by the time us lesser minions have got the info.

On the topic of fly-on -the-wall, I am surprised at the amount of speculation that appears on this site, much of it perhaps at a best-guess level.
Now I believe a number here have decent chunky holdings, but I am not aware of anyone who has made the effort to either attend a Co. AGM or perhaps physically attend the Co. premises.
I remember in the early days of Nipt attending in person and blagging a quick overview in the premises when it was based in the tired and dated Science Business Park in Manchester. Even Dr Little was in attendance, in the grim times of Illumina litigation.
Liked what I saw then, and imagine the new state of the art premises, bang in the heart of a number of Manchester hospitals and the Universities is gearing up well for take off.
Surely everyone here can't be residing in suburban palatial splendour or tax-exile land?
Might even make the effort again in the fullness of time.

Whistler, you stated earlier (post 1358), you had never invested in pharmaceuticals prior to Ygen, and you knew little about pharmaceuticals.
This must I assume still be the case as Ygen is a molecular diagnostics company and has bugger all to do with pharma.

Thanks for the extensive feed-back from posters here, I believe we are mostly singing from the same hymn-sheet in the sense of what LR has achieved since arriving and future prospects.
The point I was trying to make is offer an explanation as to why the SP remains becalmed, and the market is responding to the various aspects of near-term uncertainty which remain with the company. Nothing wrong in being aware of them, an antidote to the rampers (you,know who you are) who popular this site. Note, for example, the euphoria which accompanied the last LR update, only for the SP to retrace as soon as it rose.
In terms of SP performance whether one cares to acknowledge or not, this SP really has not delivered the readies into the bank account. Yet. But I'm hopeful as other posters here who have eloquently defined the Co platform and its strategy.

As for your multi-bagging Ramptastic dreams, this Co. Is still more than 50% below its all-time high, after 5 years plus ! Yes the co. Is different blah blah, but it still has not yet delivered.

Whistler, you can't possibly know what my investment strategy is, but thanks for the wide-of-mark guesswork. I have been here from the start and added to a number of times, and see no reason to alter my LTH stance.
Was merely offering a market explanation for the hopefully short-term SP pause- I didn't even mention the first quarter target being missed.
