The interesting thing about today's RNS is that it arguably moves ALRT closer to my original argument than some shareholders might like to admit.
ALRT are not trying to become a traditional defence contractor that identifies problems, develops solutions, funds years of R&D, obtains certifications, builds sales teams and navigates procurement themselves.
Instead, they appear to be building an ecosystem that finds promising people and companies, helps them get through the defence maze, and takes a slice of the upside through equity participation, revenue sharing and commercial partnerships.
The line in today's RNS referring to a "24-month agreement including a revenue participation mechanism linked to Accelerator introductions" is particularly telling.
To me, that reinforces the view that the real value lies in identifying opportunities early, providing access, expertise and infrastructure, then participating in the success that follows.
As I've said before, it brings to mind the old saying: using a sprat to catch a mackerel.
A relatively modest investment of capital, expertise, connections and infrastructure in the hope of securing a disproportionately larger return further down the line.
