Good, Bad and Ugly – My Take on the Results11 Jun 2026 07:21
Having read the results, I think there are both positives and negatives.
The negatives are obvious. Net profit has all but disappeared, maintenance costs remain high and management has declined to give full-year guidance because of geopolitical uncertainty. The market rarely likes uncertainty, so today's reaction is understandable.
However, there are plenty of positives that shouldn't be ignored. Revenue increased, passenger numbers reached a record, EBITDA improved, the cash position strengthened and the number of grounded aircraft continues to fall. The business is also growing its core Central and Eastern European market where it sees its biggest opportunity.
For me, this is a story of a company dealing with some significant headwinds while still making operational progress. In the short term, sentiment could easily push the shares lower and I still wouldn't rule out the 800s.
Longer term, if the engine issues continue to improve and the geopolitical backdrop settles, today's weakness could look like an opportunity rather than a disaster.
Just my view. GLA. DYOR.
