IMO it has the potential to be very large, but will initially be limited by production facilities and speed of industry adoption. Nanoco have capacity for around £100m of IR QD materials per year with present facilities running round the clock.

The belief is that Apple are likely to be using the first generation of STMicro's QD enhanced SWIR and NIR sensos in VR/AR products, possibly other products too e.g. iphone, apple watch etc.

Apple have been dropping hints for a while now, so I would temper expectations. September would be a better fit, as the pundits figure late 2022/early 2023 before first AR/VR product hits the shelf, assuming no more bumps in the road.

I think the patents Samsung licensed from Nanosys were more to do with QDEF and putting the dots into a film suitable for use in the LCD screens. It also served to put up an efficient smokescreen to their activity with Hansol and the method of QD manufacturing. IMO Nanosys have allegedly played a very active role in helping maintain this illusion, through active marketing that Samsung screens use their IP, which is no doubt correct, but would allow less informed to conclude they use their QD's, which as far as we know, they do not and never have.

It remains to be seen if Nanosys themselves have been infringing on Nanoco's IP. I suspect that if the action against Samsung is successful, we may yet see them quietly taking out a license for CFQD with Nanoco, but that is just a guess.

Any judgment will be within the current framework, but if it doesn't go our way, then there is an appeal process.

A few more weeks to go until this long winded process reaches a verdict.

The petitioner pays the fees, and he who pays the piper calls the tune. So majority of cases go through the motions or the PTAB is out of business pretty quickly.

Small volume though. It's the consumer sector where the real value lies and where the benefits of QD enhancement really shine owing to low cost.

It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against Sony's ingaas items. I think they'll struggle as the CMOS enhanced QD sensors have higher definition and lower cost, but we will have to wait and see.

May get some update at the interims. An update on STMicro is a little overdue IMO.

I have a feeling Nanoco may delay the interims until the IPR reaches its conclusions, but we shall see.

The sensors are likely to find their way into many things, including competing AR/VR products e.g. Meta/FB, Google, Snap, and Qualcomm devices which cover multiple companies, just to name a few. Also use in mobiles, laptops, tablets, cars and other IoT. The potential market is enormous and growing.

It's operating at 940NM- NIR band. It has a 5m range, and reduced power consumption, which points to greatly enhanced sensor. QD's aren't mentioned though.

Many investors do little to no research in a company before putting their cash in.

They simply jump on a bandwagon- a bid share price movement or a positive news story.

At present there is zero press coverage of this case, so most people outside of those already invested will know much about what is going on.

Certainly remains risk with this company, but Samsung's presentation looks patched together and desperate, whereas Nanoco's looks polished and professional.
