I didn't think so. I thought if they were going to negotiate it would have happened after the PTAB result. I guess they were playing a game of high stakes chicken, and Nanoco didn't blink.

It's difficult to understand the logic of Samsung's actions.

If they'd offered a quid a share three years ago before all this action kicked off, they'd have probably have been able to buy the company for about £300m, albeit it would have been a hostile takeover bid. Following the loss of the Apple contract, and with little else visible on the horizon (bearing in mind no PI's knew what Samsung had been up to then) many investors would have been happy to realise that kind of offer.

If they wanted to try a takeover now, the price would be considerably higher, and they could easily find themselves up against competitors if they tried a hostile bid.

This isn't a privately held company they can just come and pluck off the shelf.

I believe the figures quoted by Edison are probably closest to what the company believes is fair value. Perhaps also on top payment of costs for legal funders and lawyers representing the company. That would really be IMO the lowest fair settlement.

Illuminating there has been no mention of this on the Nanosys website.

Not until an RNS is issued with holdings update. However when you see auto trades it's usually LOAM.

BT was very clear any settlement would have to be for worldwide sales and for the life of the patents, and reflect fair value. The one thing we don't know is what that value is, we can only guess/estimate.

After today there remains the best part of two days trading until the court case starts, bearing in mind the six hour time difference between UK and Texas.

STMicro have been producing global shutter devices for some time. Nothing new there. I'm not claiming it's impossible for the item to contain a QD sensor, just think it very unlikely.

Doubtful that is using QD enhanced sensors- the IR band quoted is NIR, and ST have been producing sensors in that band for quite a while now in normal CMOS sensors.

Think we'll have to be patient for a little bit longer to see the Apple AR/XR/VR device appear, which I firmly believe will be the first consumer device to use STMicros QD sensor technology.

That would have been about twenty pence a share. I find it hard to believe that Nanoco would have considered accepting such a low offer.

It would be unwise to consider there is no risk. With the strength of the case against Samsung it is difficult to envisage losing though.

If performance at Markman and PTAB is any benchmark, Nanoco's legal team are far superior at presenting a case in unambiguous and straightforward terms, whereas Samsung's seem to be the absolute opposite.

So around 36m worldwide sales, plus whatever the figure might be for circa 400000 QD OLED units. The latter should scale markedly in future years, especially with gen 2 tech.

I reckon they're probably moving around 10-12M QD enhanced sets per year worldwide. Remains to be seen any calculation for QD OLED, which is a different animal to QLED, much lower volume sales, but a lot more QD's per unit.

If we go simply by QLED sales, for the lowest estimate of around $8 per set, then that would be $96m per annum, or $1.2bn per annum for highest of around $100.

Now LOAM seem to have stopped selling into the rise (for now), the price seems to be gradually moving back upwards.

Interesting that the language for sensor material production seems to have shifted to CY2023.

I believe any significant production orders are more likely to have a foot in FY2024 than FY2023, which isn't a problem provided Nanoco get those orders.

If you look at Apple AR , it's been reported that it's been delayed slightly to H2 2023, I believe it's more than coincidental if dates for STMicro sensors may have shifted a little, although I don't think it'll be by much.

Market appears largely reactionary to large events with this share. e.g. winning or loss of a commercial contract, or win or loss of legal action. I think we can expect a significant uplift if Nanoco win, as it will court a lot of publicity with ££££/$$$$ figures attached, but prior to that the news is more restrained and 'jam tomorrow' thus visibility of the company largely confined to investors with a closer idea of what this company is capable of and/or longer term investors.

Perhaps wide of the mark, but it's how it appears to me.
