Activist Ester de Paula, who captured the moment in a photo, commented on social media about the tracks and lamented the removal of the remains of a material important to local history.
"How sad: Another truckload of rails from our glorious EFA leaving. Someone needs to stop this company. I sincerely urge our responsible authorities to go there today and check the tracks of our train leaving today," wrote the user.
"We're in a struggle, waiting for a situation to unfold, and figuring out the best way to save our train, and today we see this. It's very sad," he continued.
Many users expressed concern about the possible loss of railway heritage, while others speculated about the tracks being used for other purposes, such as recycling or sales. "They're stealing all the tracks and no one is watching, no one is doing anything, how sad," said one user in the post.
