Governor cites resumption of mining as a new cycle for Serra do Navio and Pedra Branca.
Amapá Minerals has taken over the judicial reorganization of the former Tucano Mine
Coordination between the Government and Senator Davi Alcolumbre ensures the operation of Amapá Minerals, boosting the local economy and increasing job creation in the region.
The return of mining in Serra do Navio has initiated a new cycle of development for the region. During a visit to the municipality over the weekend, Governor Clécio Luís celebrated the progress in resuming mining activity through the company Amapá Minerals. Following joint efforts by the State Government and Senator Davi Alcolumbre, the company is beginning its operational phase, with a direct impact on job creation and boosting the local economy.
“We are very honored because we have secured a serious company, one that respects environmental legislation, to operate here in the region. Today, 794 people are employed, mostly from Serra do Navio and Pedra Branca do Amapari, with machinery, hotels, and restaurants rented and contracted to assist in this activity. God willing, the first tests will begin in May, and operations will start in June, bringing the total to over a thousand employees. This means wealth, development for the people of the region, and above all, dignity for the people,” stated Clécio Luís.
Amapá Minerals has taken over the judicial reorganization of the former Tucano Mine and has been leading the restructuring process of the mining activity, following institutional coordination led by the Amapá Economic Development Agency. The negotiations extended for approximately two years, focusing on attracting investors and the sustainable economic recovery of the region.
The arrival of Amapá Minerals represents not only the reactivation of a productive sector, but also the reconstruction of the economic dynamics of the municipalities of Serra do Navio and Pedra Branca do Amapari.
“We are restoring the power of management to the mayors, the purchasing power of the residents of this region. It is economic activity truly returning through a lot of work and coordination. This region is a mineral province, and we cannot fail to take advantage of this mineral potential that we have here for the benefit of our own people,” added the governor.
The resumption of mining activity is part of a broader policy by Clécio Luís's administration, aimed at strengthening the economy by attracting new investments and reactivating ventures in strategic sectors. The strategy prioritizes job and income generation, the enhancement of regional strengths, and the creation of a safe environment for investors, focusing on sustainable development and expanding opportunities for the people of Amapá.
