No real point in following PFC day to day...just looked at the sp today and decided to top up. I'm in for the long term so day to day shannanigans I try to ignore ( as best I can!). I topped up because I see the upside.

Any reason why down 5% today?

I believe that the $600m new order would NOT be in today's figures (order intake) as it was announced today and that is outside of the reporting period.

Are dividends from PFC classed as " foreign" income as they are registered in Jersey? My dividends will be well over the £300 mark.

Share price falling as a result of what happened is definitely NOT an over reaction ...try telling that to the families !

(BTW ...I had 28 years experience of working in a very similar area ...I'm now retired).

The problem they now have is that the HSE will close the building down where the production is carried out. It might be localised to one manufacturing cell but they will not be able to carry on with the manufacturing of that particular product. There will be an investigation as to what happened and it might mean significant changes to working practices or the HSE might simply not allow production if they believe the risk is too great..period!

Convincing the HSE that the problem is understood and steps can be taken to ensure no repeat can happen is NOT easy.

Dividenddata is a useful source of information for .... dividend data and history / reliability of payment and...just as important, the increase in dividends.

I wouldn't ' throw' money at just one company...spread it around.

Rights Issue - existing shareholders can exercise the option to buy shares. You can also sell the rights if you don't wish to participate.

Open Offer - similar to a rights issue but you don't have the option to sell the rights.

I use CWD to let out one of my flats. They've always been pretty good and quick at finding a good renter (pays on time, no missed payments and generally looks after the place). For the money they charge they do a good job. Maybe they don;t charge enough and that's the problem!

I wonder how much of the Ogden reserve was used? I don't mean the £49m specifically but what the sum represents as a total of the reserve. Is there any more reserve which can later be released to the bottom line ?

I see that Admiral shares were down a tad this morning....surely their claims would also be blighted by the bad weather at the start of this year.

The update indicates that a special will most likely be paid ( based on solvency ratio). Quite a dividend machine!

Seems a bit of a daft play to short now - all they are doing is giving themselves a dividend to pay. Oh well..

they'll wait for Sir Martin's new venture to float and then go in their with a hostile bid.

Standard Life + Aberdeen Asset Management merger brought life assurance company [S.L] together with an assets manager [ADN]. Then the new company sells off its life assurance part of the business ( doh!) leaving the assets management business. Lloyds then removed a biggish chunk of their business. Meanwhile, SLA needs to stem customer loss in the assets under management business.
