In the modern world, the term world power has a different meaning to that used after the end of WW2.
America became the world power, because it had suffered least from the war in deaths and and as a percentage of its population and destruction inWW2 and gained monetarily afterwards. Remember, we as an example were still paying of our debt to them until recently, even though we handed them most of the scientific technology that drove their post war advancement. And they demanded payment in GOLD. The technology that we gave them was worth lots more than the second rate equipment that they sold to us and they knew it.
Russia is called a world power, but is shown to be a mirage , an economy on par with Mexico!
China is again a house of cards 60 million empty apartments, an infrastructure collapsing with a superstitious populace.
A military made up of 75% men from one child families, who are not to keen to get killed and whose parents do not want them to get killed.
A currency needs to be wanted by others for it to be dominant, As Russia is finding out now, they get paid in Yuan for the oil and gas that they sell to China but no one wants it, unless you want to buy Chinese crap. And India pays them in Rupees and no one out side of India wants Rupees .
Our world is crumbling before our very eyes, just look at the state of the modern world, which the Wests modern politicians have created. In some misplaced ideology that we would all be just one big happy family living in a global village, look out side your window and see the present and the future.
