Dr Abdul Jaleel Al Khalifa, CEO, commented: "I am pleased to say that with today's announcement on having secured two platform-based rigs to add to our drilling rig fleet, we have gained more certainty on the drilling programme for 2013. The rigs are to be mobilised shortly after the Dzhygalybeg (Zhdanov) A and B platforms are ready for drilling in 1Q and 2Q 2013, respectively. "In the third quarter of this year we achieved a 13% increase in the gross production compared to the same period last year. The sanding issues were put under control allowing us to restore the gross production to above 70,000 bopd in mid-August and we have been maintaining the production above this level since then. The gross production growth for 2012 is expected to be 10%, a solid result given constrained production in the second quarter of this year. "The US$200 million share buyback programme is ongoing with almost 90% completed. Before the end of the year, we anticipate being able to update the market on the marketing arrangements for exporting our share of the crude oil production and commencement of installation of the Dzhygalybeg (Zhdanov) A platform, among other projects."

Outlook Fifty two furnaces were shut down in South Africa during the Eskom buy-back arrangement according to CRU. This was mostly continued during the winter tariff periods. Although not all, a number of furnaces originally shut down have now been restarted in South Africa as the Eskom buy-back arrangement ended in May 2012 and with the winter tariff period ending on 31 August 2012. This has increased alloy supply. While IFL has been relatively unaffected, ongoing illegal strikes in the platinum industry have reduced UG2 supply which has resulted in some improvement in ore prices. These two opposing forces are expected to continue throughout quarter four. It is therefore expected that spot prices will remain relatively constant throughout quarter four. The International Monetary Fund's latest global economicgrowth forecast released in October shows a gradual strengthening of activity from the low base of early 2012. Global growth is projected at 3.3% and 3.6% in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Financial easing and recent announcements of large scale projects by the Chinese Government may stimulate demand toward the end of the quarter and an increase in spot prices may be expected. Ore demand is expected to remain buoyant throughout the quarter as supply is reduced. IFL notes the discussions around the South African chrome ore export duty and would welcome the introduction of this levy; the Company will monitor this situation closely for any further developments.

Commenting on the update, Chief Executive Chris Jordaan said: "This quarter was a record breaking quarter for IFL. We achieved record chrome ore production from the Sky Chrome mine, we generated a record 8.4% of our electricity requirements from the Cogen plant, and ferrochrome production from the smelters is the second best quarter ever and would have been a record if we adjust for the peak hour power reductions due to high winter tariffs. We continue to focus on bringing costs down and we have achieved 64% of our targeted cost reduction. "Overall, we are delighted by the progress made over the quarter - our costs continue to come down and our production continues to improve, which puts the Company in good stead for the future."

Sean Finlay, Aurum's Chairman, said: "These are exceptional results from the first detailed work to be carried out on the Cabeza Prospect, with significant gold mineralisation being identified over wide zones of high grade. The results indicate the possible identification a new, near surface gold system; we will now undertake further trenching work with drilling of targets likely to follow. Cabeza trenching results Aurum Mining plc (AIM: AUR), the gold and tungsten explorer focused in Spain, is pleased to report extremely encouraging results from the initial trenching work carried out on the Cabeza de Caballo gold prospect area ("Cabeza") in Salamanca Province. Aurum has a 54% majority interest in Cabeza held through the Company's joint venture with Ormonde Mining plc. Results have been received from samples collected in four trenches excavated on an extensive gold-in-soil anomaly with a strike length of some 800 metres No trenching or drilling has previously been carried out on this area. Highlights · Trench CABTR004 extended over 30m and included an interval of 21m grading 3.71 grams per tonne ("g/t") gold from a zone of intense quartz-sulphide veining within altered granites · Trench CABTR003, some 75m along strike from CABTR004, returned several separate intervals within an overall zone some 40m wide including 4m grading 1.96 g/t, 4m grading 1.85g/t, 3m grading 2.13 g/t and 1m grading 11.8g/t gold · Of a total of thirteen previous float samples taken from Cabeza, eight samples returned values greater than 5/gt gold with maximum values of 45.3g/t and 72.2g/t gold · Due to the success of this trenching campaign, applications have now been submitted for further exploration permits in the adjacent area to the north of the Cabeza permit area A map showing the location of the trenches and the 800m gold-in-soil anomaly can be accessed by clicking on the link at the end of this announcement.
