AstraZeneca wins Japanese approval Date: Friday 01 Jul 2011 LONDON (ShareCast) - AstraZeneca, the FTSE-100 pharmaceuticals firm, has won approval to sell its drug Nexium in Japan. The drug helps in the treatment of acid related conditions, including peptic ulcer disease. Daiichi Sankyo will be responsible for its distribution and its approval follows 8 “in-country” clinical studies. Tony Zook, Executive Vice President said, "the availability of Nexium in Japan provides patients with a world-leading treatment for acid-related conditions. We are pleased to be able to add Nexium to our portfolio of medicines in Japan, our second largest market."

Serco Awarded New Contract Serco awarded new contract to deliver logistics and base support services for the Australian Defence Force in the Middle East 1 July 2011 Serco Group plc (Serco), the international services company, announces today the award of a new contract with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to provide logistics and base support services in the Middle East. The two-year contract is valued at around A$50m and has two one-year extension options. Under the contract, Serco will deliver fully integrated support for ADF bases to ensure the provision of high-quality services in areas such as maintenance and ground refuelling, together with healthcare, accommodation and other support functions. The services will be implemented in a staged approach, with all services fully operational by the end of September 2011. Serco provides support under multi-activity contracts for the armed forces in UK, US, Canada, Germany and Australia. We have supported the ADF for more than 15 years providing: garrison support services to the army; maritime engineering and technical services to the navy; and logistics, engineering advice and aircraft maintenance support to the air force. We also have 60 years of experience providing services in the Middle East with services including air traffic control, metro operations and support for higher education establishments.

Firmenich deal sweetens Pure Circle Date: Friday 01 Jul 2011 LONDON (ShareCast) - Plant-based sweetener-maker Pure Circle has reached a global distribution agreement with the world’s biggest fragrance and flavour company Firmenich. Under the agreement Switzerland-based Firmenich will have exclusive rights over NSF-02, a flavour modifier developed by Pure Circle to be used in combination with its sweeteners. Pure Circle says NSF-02 is designed specifically to work well in combination with its sweeteners, Reb A and SG-95, and sugar or high fructose corn syrup, enhancing flavour, sweetness and taste of food and drinks. Reb A and SG-95 are made with extracts from the stevia plant. The two companies also agreed to collaborate on marketing and regulatory activities to accelerate the adoption of NSF-02 outside the US, where it has FEMA GRAS (Flavor and Extracts Manufacturers’ Association Generally Regarded as Safe) status. “Combining PureCircle's flavor innovation and stevia portfolio with Firmenich's world class expertise in incorporating sweetness enhancement and flavour masking ingredients will accelerate the adoption of our new innovation globally,” Pure Circle chief executive Magomet Malsagov said.

Post Close Trading Update Goals Soccer Centres PLC, the UK's premier operator of next generation outdoor 5-a-side soccer centres with 42 centres in the UK and one in Los Angeles, USA, announces a trading update for the six months ended 30 June 2011, in advance of the release of the Company's interim results on 5 September 2011. Underlying trading for the first six months has been in line with management expectations with like for like sales up 3%. The impact of the contested VAT on block bookings by teams to fulfil their league fixtures has resulted in overall like for like sales being flat. The Company remains on track and within budget to open four new centres during the year. Goals Hull opened successfully in May and initial trading is satisfactory. Since the update at our AGM on 28 April 2011, HMRC have confirmed their view that block bookings of pitches made by teams to fulfil their league fixtures should be treated as standard rated for VAT. Our advisors do not agree with HMRC and we are appealing this decision. This process is expected to take approximately nine months. Until our position is confirmed, our sales and profits will continue to be reduced by approximately £0.65m per annum. As was stated previously, the impact on cash flow of an adverse ruling either retrospectively or in the future is not expected to be material. We will update the market of any progress at the appropriate time.

1 July 2011 Disposal of operation in Scotland Redrow, one of the UK's leading house builders, is pleased to announce the disposal of its operation in Scotland in line with the Board's strategy as announced in the Interim Management Statement on 19 April 2011. The business is being sold to Springfield Properties Plc, a private construction and property development company based in Elgin, for a total consideration of £49 million, comprising £5 million cash paid on completion and deferred cash consideration of £44 million, to be paid as developments are sold over the next three years. Redrow's operation in Scotland consists of 8 sites with planning permission. The net book value of the assets which are the subject of the transaction amount to £49 million. In the year ended 30 June 2010, Redrow's operation in Scotland generated turnover of £31 million and a loss before tax of £1.7 million. The proceeds of the disposal will be used to increase investment in land in Redrow's other operations, particularly London and the South East.
