John Menzies to beat expectations as aviation arm flies Date: Monday 04 Jul 2011 LONDON (ShareCast) - Newspaper distributor and aviation services group John Menzies said it is now set to exceed expectations after seeing the positive start to the year continue. John Menzies’s aviation division, which provides services such as checking passengers and baggage onto planes and cargo management, has experienced “increased contract win momentum and generally positive trading,” the company said. The newspaper division arm, Menzies Distribution, “continues to operate in challenging markets but management's proven track record of innovating and delivering cost savings continues to keep the division on track.” Edinburgh-based John Menzies, which was founded in 1833, is one of Scotland’s biggest companies. It used to be best known as the operator of a large chain of newsagents.

Completion of Acquisition Zambeef, the fully integrated African agri-business with operations in Zambia, Nigeria and Ghana, is pleased to announce the completion, on 30 June 2011 of the acquisition of the Napamba, Chambatata and Kampemba farms, in Zambia, from ETC Bio-Energy Limited ("ETC"), in accordance with the conditional acquisition agreement between the Company and ETC dated 28 January 2011, (as amended and restated on 26 March 2011 and as further amended by an addendum dated 19 April 2011). Acquisition of Retail Customer Base K3, which supplies enterprise resource planning ("ERP") software, hosting and managed services to the supply chain industry, is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Retail Merchandising Division of Azurri Computer Solutions Ltd ("Azurri Retail"). The consideration for the acquisition is £1.0m, payable in cash on completion. Further consideration of up to £0.5m is payable dependent on increases in gross margin generated by Azurri Retailover the next two years. For the year to December 2010, Azurri Retail generated sales of £1.0m and an underlying profit of £0.4m. Over £0.6m of 2010 revenues were recurring. Azurri Retail's customer base comprises a number of major retailers, including Matalan, JJB Sports, Littlewoods, Holland & Barratt and the National Trust. Azurri Retail represents a highly complementary fit with K3's existing retail software operations, adding further specialist skills, and it will be readily integrated into the Group. Its acquisition is in line with K3's strategy to build recurring revenues and acquire profitable user bases with significant cross-selling opportunities, in particular for its hosting and managed services offering.

Datatec Limited Logicalis acquires Detroit IT Service business Netarx Datatec Limited ("Datatec", JSE/AIM: DTC), the international Information and Communications Technology (ICT) group, announces that its subsidiary Logicalis has acquired the business and assets of Netarx LLC ("Netarx") a Cisco Gold partner and provider of managed services, data centre and collaborative IT solutions to customers in the mid-west USA. The maximum consideration of $34 million will be paid in a combination of cash and deferred Datatec shares in order to align management shareholders who will be assuming key positions in the Logicalis US organisation. Based in Detroit Michigan, Netarx has annualised revenues of approximately $60 million and more than 220 employees. This acquisition builds upon Logicalis' existing strong mid-western presence by expanding its IT consulting and services business and enhancing Logicalis' Managed Services capabilities through the addition of Netarx's proven expertise in collaboration and data centre technologies. The acquisition also brings significant cross selling opportunities as there is little overlap between Logicalis' existing customer base and Netarx's offering in the Michigan area.

The patents cover the use of Boehringer Ingelheim's compound Telmisartan for the prevention and treatment of stroke and the prevention of myocardial infarction related heart damage. Formal grant of these patents by the USPTO is expected in the next two months and will trigger significant milestone payments to Ark under the license agreement which Ark and Boehringer Ingelheim entered into in 2005.
