EDELAR The Board of Andes (AIM: AEN; BCBA: AEN), the Latin American energy group, is pleased to announce that it has entered into an option agreement to acquire a 78.44% indirect interest in the electricity distribution company Empresa Distribuidora de Electridad de La Rioja S.A. ("EDELAR"). The option agreement provides for an initial payment of US$1,500,000 and if the option is exercised a further payment of US$5,290,255 is due within 90 days of acceptance with a balance of US$15,000,000 due to be paid within 2 years of acceptance subject to annual interest of 12.5% per annum.

YCO Group (YCO) announced it has been contracted to build a fully customised motor yacht on behalf of a client. The 80 metre build will deliver revenues throughout the period of construction until its delivery in late 2013. The news was taken on board by investors, and a wave of demand sent shares 0.975p higher to 12.25p.

Commenting on the results, David Kershaw, the Chief Executive, said: "The results for the period show significant progress. Trading has been strong in a tough market. We experienced good growth in our UK and other European businesses. The Asia and Australasia region had a more challenging half but we are pleased that our African and American operations are all moving towards profit. Revenue was 23% up on the same period last year and profit before tax increased 24%. "The network is now in place and the new offices are all on course to be profitable by the end of the year. We have more multi-national clients as well as rolling out our higher growth companies. We are confident about our progress but conscious of any macro effects beyond our control in 2012. We remain vigilant about costs and maintaining our strong balance sheet."

M&C Saatchi (SAA) reported a 23% increase in revenues to 71.9 million pounds for the sixth months ended June, following strong performance across Europe, including in the UK. Pre-tax profits at the advertising agency were up 24% to 7.7 million, and while the Asia and Australasian regions experienced a more challenging half, the areas continue to move towards profitability. The group is conscious of macro effect beyond its control, and thus will remain vigilant about costs, ensuring its balance sheet remains robust. The shares rose 8p to 125p.

CONT When we announced full year results for the year ended 31 March 2011, I stated that in a world where the threat of cyber attack grows by the day, organisations are ever more concerned to preserve the security of their information. The major trends of today - the ability of mobile devices and laptops to receive and transmit massive amounts of information, the rise of the mobile workforce and the spread of social networking - are at the heart of this concern. This is leading to an increasing need for stronger authentication and need for the information itself to be encrypted. This is presenting a potentially vast market opportunity for Intercede, as its MyID Identity and Credentials Management system is ideally suited to deliver the necessary security and identity assurance. Separately, citizen identity projects to support border security, benefits entitlement, voter registration and on-line commerce are emerging at an ever increasing rate. In response, Intercede has been involved with multiple partners during the last six months to submit commercial bids to governments around the world. In our experience lead times are long and government procurement cycles are unpredictable especially in the developing world. Nevertheless, Intercede expects to profit from this work in future periods. I also stated that in order to fully exploit this opportunity and meet the needs of a growing number of customers, Intercede would need to scale up our business capabilities. To that end, we have invested in research & development, sales & marketing and customer support. As a result, the number of people employed by Intercede has increased by 20% compared to the same period last year. Intercede continues to have cash balances in excess of £6 million cash and the order backlog and sales pipeline means that trading for the financial year as a whole remains in line with current expectations."

In an update following the firm's Annual General Meeting, Intercede Group (IGP) said it was seeing satisfactory trading in the first half of the financial year, with the pipeline of future business opportunities looking strong. The IT security management business has recently seen a number of commercial successes, including the deployment of ID cards to members of the newly elected Portuguese government and security upgrades for the US Federal Aviation Authority. Trading for the financial year as a whole remains in line with expectations. Intercede shares jumped 3p to 60p.

T Clarke (CTO) remains a "hold" for Panmure Gordon, with a reduced target price of 50p, from 85p, after the building services contractor achieved weaker than expected half year results. Adjusted pre-tax profits of 2.25 million pounds against the broker's forecast of 2.93 million pounds and net cash fell to 3.4 million pounds. With a similar second half performance anticipated, Panmure has reduced its full year pre-tax profit target to 4.4 million pounds, from 6 million pounds. While the dividend yield of 6.2% looks attractive, the broker notes that there are better ones available in the sector. Shares in T Clarke dropped 0.5p to 47p.

Oliver Vellacott, Chief Executive, said: "Difficult trading towards the end of last year resulted in a reduction in operating profits, but the group continued to grow sales in some markets. We have had a slow start to the current financial year and although sales in the first seven weeks of the current year are approximately in line with last year, order intake is down on the corresponding period last year. Over the last twelve months a great deal of work has been undertaken improving the rate of introduction of new products and we expect that these will start to show through in improved business results as the year progresses. However we remain concerned about the impact of current economic conditions."
