May Gurney named preferred bidder for Cheshire West and Chester Council's long-term waste and recycling contract valued at up to £126 million May Gurney, the support services company providing essential maintenance and enhancement services to clients in the public and regulated markets, today announces that it has been named preferred bidder for Cheshire West and Chester Council's waste and recycling contract, which is valued at up to £126 million for a fourteen-year period with the potential for a further seven year extension. Beginning in April 2012, the new contract involves the collection of waste and recycling from 147,000 households across Cheshire West and Chester (CWaC). The contract will enable the Council to harmonise collection arrangements across the new unitary borough, as well as maximising recycling volumes, minimising carbon emissions and reducing costs above the Council's original target of £1.58 million (15%) per annum. Services delivered will include May Gurney'sMaGOS™ kerbside collection solution, bring banks, processing of food and garden waste, the sale of recyclables and the provision of bulking sites, vehicles and plant.

Peter Cowgill, Executive Chairman, said: "It is pleasing to report that Group profit before tax rose by 20.6% to £20.1 million (2010: £16.6 million). Our continual focus on exploiting all avenues of revenue growth and margin protection has enabled us to deliver a level of profit that represents a platform for meeting expectations for the full year, although trading conditions remain tough. "Trading since the period end has continued to improve with gross like for like sales for the core UK and Ireland retail fascias in the seven week period to 17 September up by 3.3% (+2.5% Sports Fascias; +7.4% Fashion Fascias). Excluding the impact of VAT, the net revenues have increased in this period by 1.6% (+1.0% Sports Fascias; +5.0% Fashion Fascias). The result for the full year remains very dependent on the sales and margin performance in December and January and we will issue an Interim Management Statement on the third quarter in November. "We continue to look for appropriate acquisition opportunities which can deliver additional sources of future earnings growth principally in overseas Sports Retail but also to compliment our core retail fascias. "The Board again believes that the Group is well positioned for future growth across its markets and trading is in line with its expectations."

Tim Clarke, Head of EU Delegation in Tanzania said: "In Tanzania the potential for generating power from solar systems is virtually untapped. The second contract is worth USD0.8 million with Camco providing technical assistance in the development of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects for the Belgian Development Agency (BTC) in Uganda. Camco leads a consortium, which includes Carbon Africa and Climate Change Concern, appointed to build local expertise in areas of carbon development that currently represent barriers to emission reduction projects in Uganda. Camco will identify project ideas; undertake feasibility studies; attract CDM financing for eligible projects; and undertake CDM project documentation throughout the entire CDM project cycle. Both schemes are expected to make a substantial contribution to improving people's living standards and will help drive further economic development.

In Tanzania, Camco has won a contract from the European Union (EU) to scale up its existing Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Clusters project, installing small-scale solar home systems (SHS) in a further 15,000 homes in the Lake Victoria region of the country over the next three years. The PV Clusters project aims to reduce key market barriers to the development of solar PV systems in rural Tanzania by enabling large groups of farmers, mine workers, teachers or palm oil producers to finance, purchase and install small-scale solar homes systems (SHS) in bulk, thereby achieving significant economies of scale. SHS are expected to play an important role in meeting the growing energy demand in Tanzania's rural areas. Currently only 15% of the population has access to electricity according to the country's Ministry of Energy and Minerals and an estimated 5.1 million rural households have no grid connection. Tanzania ranks amongst the world's top ten countries for solar insolation making SHS ideally suited to deliver electricity to rural communities in off-grid areas.

Camco wins significant clean energy contracts in East Africa (London, Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, 21 September 2011) Camco, a global developer of clean energy solutions and projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions has been awarded two new project development contracts in East Africa worth USD1.8 million in revenue over the next three years. The first is a USD1 million solar photovoltaic (PV) clusters project in Tanzania and the second is USD0.8 million project to provide technical assistance in the development of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in Uganda. These two deals follow similar contracts in Botswana and Uganda that Camco has won in the past 2 years. Camco believes that there is now a real drive to make clean energy projects work in many parts of Africa. Over the last two decades the company has been working with national governments, national and international corporates and non-governmental organisations. Camco provides project development, technical design and engineering, and procurement services as well as strategy development, planning and securing finance with the goal of making clean energy projects a reality on the ground. In 2010 renewable energy investment in Africa increased by 384% from USD 0.7bn in 2009 to USD 3.6bn. While this amount represents less than 5% of global new investment it does show the significant increase in attention given to the region by investors. A combination of factors is responsible for this sharp increase: the urgent need to scale up power capacity as a means of addressing energy access needs; the pressure applied to largely fossil-fuel based energy generation in South Africa, which provides much of sub-Saharan energy grid power; the prolonged high oil price levels; and the international pressure for emission reduction initiatives.

David Paxton, CEO of Vatukoula Gold Mines, commented: "The last quarter of our financial year again highlighted our ongoing efforts to get the underground infrastructure up to the level required to achieve our near term production targets. Although we have achieved a much higher rate of development than that achieved last year, we still envisage that during the coming year we will again be focusing on underground development. I am nonetheless delighted to report that as a result of more efficient mining practices and some higher grade material currently being mined towards year end, production has improved substantially. Underground development will continue at the increased rate until we are in a position to sustain production at our targeted rate. Operational Highlights · Gold sold was approximately level at 12,066 ounces for Q4 and 53,461 for the year ended August 2011 · Underground ore delivered increased by 40% compared to the previous year to 336,085 tonnes and increased to 91,753 tonnes in the Q4 as compared to Q3 2011 · Underground development for the fourth quarter was 6,751 metres up from 6,349 metres achieved in the third quarter. The underground development for the year was 24,453 up from 8,720 metres achieved in the previous year. These significant increases are the result of our on-going development programme · As a result of the continued development programme, roughly 42% of the ore mined in the quarter was sourced from development drives · The total cost per ton of ore mined and milled reduced from US$166 / tonne in the third quarter to US$ 128 / tonne in the fourth quarter. For the year ended August 2011 the cost per tonne increased to US$144 / ton from US$101 / tonne in the previous year, reflecting an increase in underground tonnages mined and milled as a percentage of the total ore processed, and an increase in underground mining costs · Over the quarter the Company sought increased efficiencies in the mine, including a split firing mining technique whereby the waste and ore are blasted and removed separately.

Acquisition and Placing 21 September 2011 Dillistone, the AIM quoted supplier of software for the international recruitment industry, is pleased to announce that it has today entered into an agreement to acquire Woodcote Software Limited ("Woodcote") ("Acquisition") and that Religare Capital Markets Plc has completed a placing on behalf of Dillistone of 694,445 new ordinary shares of 5p each in the share capital of Dillistone ("Placing Shares") to raise £500,000 (before expenses) at a price of 72p per Placing Share ("Placing"). Completion of the Acquisition and the Placing are subject only to admission of the Placing Shares and the Consideration Shares (as defined below) to trading on AIM.
