I used to play competitive games a lot. League of legends and CSGO. Gamers very passionate community, they are all over reddit, twitch and discord. Discord got valued at 7bn recently btw. Gamers community always was considered as losers and geeks who plays video games by prime media, so brands who supported community growth got rewarded. It is basically same as sports. Fans loves supporting brands that supports their favorite esports players/teams. Even car manufacturers like mercedes are trying to crack gamers market, because brands finally noticed it is not just bunch of jobless losers who plays video games all day. I play mobile game now, because i dont have time anymore to play competitive games. i know some people who spends $10k-$60k per month on it. Own businesses and so on. It is very lucrative market, with ever growing market/following that will last for generations. Wont be surprised if gaming will become more mainstream soon, but at the same time they not that interested anymore as online technology is at the point where you dont need old boomers ways, with their rules to broadcast matches and tournaments. Hardly anyone watching tv these days anyway :)
