Here is a LinkedIn post from a couple of days ago, promoting the fact that KPMG had advised on on 5 Health and Life Sciences M&A deals in Q1 21.

Seems pretty innocuous, so I wonder why Chris Yates was one of only a handful of people which liked it? Probably nothing, but could be something....

India and Brazil are in trouble too.

India, a major vaccine producer, has put a halt on exports to look after domestic needs, and the general global shortage of vaccine is causing others to buy unproven vaccines from, you guessed it.....China.

Seems to me that demand for quality screening tests for infectiousness is likely to remain high for a while yet..

Agree with Unprecedented (as well as MD and others) that there’s likely more going on behind the scenes with the entire U.K. diagnostic industry collaboration, and that news when it comes may be an “out of left field” surprise.

Its the Vatic CEO on 17 Feb (post the GAD, ODX, SS announcements), commenting about U.K. manufacturing scale up and in particular that “there has been a major drive to massively increase the supply of sovereign lateral flow tests in the U.K, a program we’ve been involved with where industry has really come together and supported each other to deliver a massive initiative in delivering tests that are made, and even designed and then delivered in the U.K., and obviously that’s begun now with a couple of companies involved but that is set to expand over the next few month so that we can meet that challenge..........we make all of our tests in the U.K.”

So I guess this serves as further confirmation that there is large scale industry collaboration going on behind the scenes to achieve massively scaled domestic manufacturing supply, which can only benefit ABDX. I really do think that when AVCT, ODX, ABDX etc get news, it may be an “out of left field” surprise.

Just a question, but how sure are we that this is a NEW contract win for £1.2bn, rather than an expansion of an existing contract with the £1.2bn representing the revised total value of that EXISTING contract post expansion?

I ask only because I’ve been looking through these https://www.contractsfinder.service.gov.uk/Search/Results?page=1#d2574d94-13d2-423f-b744-47330680fe02 (and the atamis downloads in each of the five contracts listed), and they seem to cross refer.

I suppose what I’m asking is; are all of these contracts for discrete amounts, or do the quoted contract values represent an accumulating value of a single “base” contract?

Absent anything strange, we will open at 85/90 on Monday, so the mid price will be 87.50. That is 7.5p p lower than the 95p UT, so we will immediately LOOK like we are around 8% down.

The reality is we will not be. It’s the UT that’s skewing the position. The UT today simply made it look like we closed higher than we in fact did.

I think the it was the £1k uncrossing trade that meant we finished at 95p, with the 20k just a late reported trade. Still odd though to see the UT at 95p today...

It does mean, I think, that absent news we will look like we are opening around 8% down on Monday.

It all feels like there is a re focus away from PCR to LFT, or at the very least to cheaper tests, with the govt buying the first slugs and making them available for free to businesses whilst at the same time laying groundwork for a new private testing regime which ultimately should create a competitive mkt from which businesses will, I am sure, ultimately have to buy tests themselves.

In terms of the GLR, even the judge commented that despite the number of points alleged, the case seemed to have morphed simply into an allegation of preferential treatment driven by bias. Those are questions for John Bell and the govt to answer.

But unless I’m mistaken, John Bell has no interest or shareholding in ABDX - his “conflict” arose because he was in the RTC through his Oxford Association, and his position as the chair of the relevant committee which decided what tests to go for.

The GLR are just out to argue that public funds were awarded to cronies. Personally I can’t see that was the case here.
