No expert in this, but looks to me like the MM's drooped the price to fill a buy order at 9p.

And the language in this latest RNS was a little different, talking as it does about putting in place “arrangements that will allow” a further extension, rather than just being in discussions about an extension.

That may well be nothing, but alternatively it might suggest that Vast are having to offer up something else to get an extension away this time.

Do you know who the shareholder that gave the security is?

I think it’s worth remembering that Alpha’s primary security here isn’t Vast assets but piece of real estate in Bucharest offered up by a Vast shareholder, valued I think at c$10m when the security was given, and in return for which that shareholder was given security over Vast assets.

It’s often been said here that one reason debtors continue to extend is because it’s a pain to enforce security, but in truth it seems to me to be a lot easier to do that over a single piece of real estate than over the assets of a company. The fact Alpha appear not to have done that perhaps does indicate they think the diamonds are coming.

But I’d be somewhat concerned right now if I was the shareholder who granted that security.

But VAST do seem to have been in court an awful lot, often facing claims for enforcement of monies owed. Interesting to go through each of these, if you have time!.

Just a little more on Folium….

The main business of Folium is to create food additives using Crispr technology (Nobel prize winning gene editing tech) to “edit” animal gut microbiome such that the bad bacteria (eg Salmonella) is removed naturally by the animal rather than using antibiotics. The Swiftr LFT supports that such that farmers can identify if they have a problem in the flock, and then use additives to deal with it.

Back in May 2022 Folium announced a commercial partnership with a major multi national food nutrition business, which agreed to fund research in return for commercial rights

They didn’t say who the partner was, but shortly after the announcement Folium granted charges over its assets to a company called DSM. Further charges were granted during 2023.

They are also the ones helping Folium to launch Swiftr in Brazil.

So, Folium have what they call a breakthrough food additive product which a major multinational is funding, targeting a massive market which can be expanded to target a whole range of animal and crop bacteria, and we are involved in making the complimentary diagnostic for it all.

The other significant benefit for us here is that there are nowhere near the same regulatory hurdles to overcome to get a animal based diagnostic, rather than a human one, to market.

Put another way, our real partner here isn’t Folium, it’s DSM.

Well thats what I think anyway! Take it or leave it as you will.

who knows, but can we even raise anywhere like enough to sort alpha anyway given the current sp and authority limits?

remember, earlier this year there was an egm called to raise authority limits on the basis it was necessary to give comfort to lenders should loans not be repaid by diamonds, with clear statements that the new limits would only be used in that event.

yet ap pretty much exhausted those limits for operational purposes, and now can’t raise anything like what’s required.

if i were alpha that would **** me off, especially when i’m being continually asked to defer.

Just another musing, but in the blog there is this

“ Ease of use: The LFA must be easy to use for consumers. The fewer steps the better. This also includes having clear instructions, being simple to set up, and easy to interpret. That would fit very nicely with the solution that Solios Diagnostics (who Yates has been liking and details of which I gave earlier) have come up with, which is one where the whole test is wrapped up in one eco friendly single piece product, rather than having lots of different bits like the buffer solution, Test strip, sample collection stick etc.

Just a musing and probably 2+2=5.

Yep - any mention of progress on the diamonds, no matter how vague or tenuous, will spike the price.

Then AP will place using the new headroom authority he got at the AGM.

Then we will find out the news wasn't quite as hoped.

The diamonds, or at least the prospect of them, have worked to help AP out this way all year.

If there is any kind of clue here, perhaps its that these blogs have often been put out just prior to some news to which they pertain. So perhaps there might be some news in the offing about a new Salistick retailer? I've noted before that Liam Currivan, (the blog author and the guy that got us into SD, Tesco etc) has recently been liking posts from the head of pharmacy at ASDA.

On the vacancies, it might also be worth noting they’re recruiting for York and Doncaster (usually it’s just York I think). That might be material because, unless I’m mistaken, Doncaster is purely a manufacturing site.

1. We are advertising for a senior R&D scientist, and 3 R&D scientists. through the Abingdon website. TBH, that’s a little unusual - most of the time we just recruit through agencies but, whatever, our headcount (on LinkedIn at least) doesn’t seem to have fallen so these look to be us adding to the workforce, rather than replacing, which is a good sign I think.
