My reply's were from my experience and not knowing much about FPSO's I probably should not have posted them.
The plywood theory wasn't my best example, but hey ho.
Anyway we've had some mileage out of the windage thingy.

I bow to your superior knowledge. As you can guess I don't know too much about FPSO's.
The vessel's I have been involved with (48 years) have all been wind affected especially when going alongside
the quay.
It is good to know that wind wont affect the hook up, which can only be good news.

Look on you tube and you will see arctic trucks being blown over, admittedly not by 20 knot winds.
My ply wood was only an explanation as to the affects of windage.
I think your friend on the FPSO was just being macho, or was he the one that broke the rope last time.

If you think 20 knots of wind will have little to no affect on the ship then try walking down the road with an 8x4 sheet of ply wood, (it acts like a sail) then multiply that force by many thousands of times and thats the affect you will have on the ship, especially if the wind is 90 degree to swell direction. I would have a massive wager that the crew would rather no wind for hook up.
A very simplified version but I hope it explains the situation to those with no sea legs.

For this time of year that is a great forecast.
And who knows, it might even improve.
If I wasn't maxed out I would certainly be topping up before the weekend.
My last trade was 58p so I will be a lot happier when we are in the 50's.

Today might have been suitable for hook up but think about this...within only a few hours of hook up the sea conditions would be quite considerable, many thousands of dollars of kit being put to a severe test almost immediately. Like a brand new engine wouldn't you want to run it in gently. Just a thought.

I want this up and running asap as I am currently sitting on a large paper loss. I know being patient is the key but it would be much easier to be patient if I was even or slightly up. And yes I know investments can go up or down. Have great weekend guys and girls.

In one post you said blue water are definitely calling the shots and in another post you say you don't know who's calling the shots. Take enough stabs and you will eventually be right.
Also regards my earlier post I don't see how they make me a back seat driver.

What would this bb be saying if the A.M. had not sailed and the weather had dramatically changed for the better. I am happy that they at least went for the half a Chance option. Also pleased that they didn't break anything by having a risky attempt.
