I don't really want to talk about the rope but could those in the know tell us if the rope is attached to the bouy first, in which case we will see a tug or other vessel on location before AM arrives. This will tell us we have a rope. No guessing please.

just to make you greener, I'm off to the Maldives Friday.

If i have interpreted your post correctly yes

when anchoring a ship i think (could look it up) the amount of chain is about 7 times longer than the depth of water. most of the work to hold the ship on station is from the actual weight of the chain laying on the sea floor. There is actually very little pull on the anchor.

Regards the rope problem this is my 1 and only reply

the rope was more than likely well suited for the lift expected which they proved by getting the bouy into position. Where over loading might have happened is when the buoy which is tethered to stay level was in the turret and the ship heaved to port or starboard causing massive stress on everything. Up and down motion is not too much of a problem but twisting is a bitch. Sorry for this but in laymens terms it's like making love from the side.

P S. The commission does come down to .25% if you buy £50,000 but still 1.75% on first 10,000.

I use a stockbroker because I don't trust myself on a computer.
Trouble is I am charged 1.75% in and 1.75% out on first £10,000, so this makes trading very expensive.
Hence long term on all investments.

I can understand conditions might not have been perfect and another attempt might be tried latter but why have they gone for a 3 mile jolly. Why not stay close to buoy. Was it just to show ship watchers it was unsuccessful.

I suppose they might have a fishing net out.

A M chugging along nicely. Plenty of time for a positional practice Thursday evening/friday morning. Then serious attempt for hook up over the weekend. Rns Monday and poo up followed by a nice jump in sp. Easy.

Certainly not after a a porshe. I will have to google the thingy you said.

New van, pay a bit off the mortgage and a holiday and I will be happy.
