grampian soereign virtualy alongside the am. if she is delivering supplies it is good news, if she is delivering parts that is not so good. will find out in a few hours.

does anybody know the tidal current at lancaster. (not current as in bun)
we know all about swell, wind and frequency, but current could make a difference when trying to connect.
where i live we can get up to 6 knots of tide.
might help or hinder i dont know.

if you really want to know what it is like trying to connect up with the buoy you should go out and get really really drunk then try putting your front door key in that tiny keyhole.

with several thousand tonnes of ship hanging on buoy, the position will change by many meters,
depending on tidal and weather conditions i.e some chains will go slack and opposites will tighten so exact co-ordinates may be irrelevant if she is attached, which i think she is (please). I know its a waiting game, but 7.00 am Monday seems miles away.

anybody know how many crew/staff would it take to run the AM.

just got home from a great game of cards and thought i'd have a look at our ship's progress and a check on this board.
Ship's doing very nicely, but some of you are really bitchin. People from very different walks of life are invested here, some know bits of the process some know nothing and some seem to know everything. When answering a post please don't write something you wouldn't say to that person face to face. There seem to be a lot of posters I'd like to have beer with and some I'd have a word with. If you know what i mean. Anyway over invested here so looking forward to the next few hours, My daughters birthday in the next few days so Friday could make a big difference to the size of her present. I'm sure the great crew we have won't let me/us down.

Any idea why the G S is headed to A M. We are told we do not need tugs, there is a safety boat on stand by and they can't need supply's yet. If they are delivering 3 pints of fresh milk it will be expensive milk.

The latching gear will be maintained/inspected alot over the next few years, no good trying to drop the buoy in an emergency and finding you can't.

where they are positioned at the moment, might be similar conditions to what they expect at Lancaster. This could be a good opportunity to check DP systems without traveling too far if there was a problem.
