If you truly are a shareholder (rather than a pump and dump operator), then please realise Smith is an age where he doesn’t want or need to lose his investment. Same for Bythesea. Possibly the same for a few others, but likely not that many here.

Actually dimwit for the 100MW tender is was a 2MW initially scaling up to 10MW. After they were awarded Preferred Bidder status for the 100MW tender (in 2019), the 2MW interim PPA was given them by BPC (because the 100MW tender was taking so long).

With respect MFM, my posts about internal politics are not always ridiculous. There are reasons why it has taken so long for the first gas to power tender to progress, and these are absolutely linked to internal politics within Botswana. And equally those who think the slow progress has nothing to do with local politics would be well served to rethink. I know some local news is more relevant that others but surely reading about them is more interesting than reading about Poppy’s poop bag etc.

One fact I am sure of - the political ructions between the previous Khama administration and the current Masisi administration is the primary cause of the slow progress of the 100MW tender. Exactly how and why isn’t a simple concise answer - although the basis of the answer is thanks to the ineptness and greed of the previous administration, Govt pretty much had stopped functioning effectively at the end of its term. Fixing that continues to be a major challenge within Botswana.
You don’t need to agree; but simply saying the opinion or the articles are irrelevant without any basis is pretty infantile.

Hard to imagine how 10 billion US dollars can just ‘go missing’. And so much for the squeaky clean, corruption free image that Botswana has managed to portray - dog a little bit under the surface and there is lots more equally dodgy stuff that has been going on through the Khama / Zuma state capture years. It is a big worry that Serowe is Khama territory.

Masisi was speaking at the US-Africa Business Summit on Wednesday, attended by more than 1,000 delegates who included other African heads of state, US government authorities and captains of US and Africa’s private sector. Masisi laid out Botswana’s investment case for the US, highlighting that the country is hunting for partners to develop vaccine manufacturing for COVID-19 and other drugs.

“Now come on, if you want your money to grow, goods produced, supply routes assured, to headquarter your systems, this is the natural place,” he said in response to questions after his official speech. “It goes without saying. “Botswana is the best place to put your money, COVID-19 or not. “It’s a place that you can put your money and know it will come out much more than what you put in.”

How come Tlou got on with basically not much …. A Heads of Agreement with no money (presumably it is raising dollars in the upcoming IPO) where they offer in their ‘prototype’ for use in Africa might well convince other more accepting dolts (I can think of one in particular) but really is that the strong foundation upon which to base your Hydrogen strategy roll out in the No 1 mining jurisdiction, No 1 in terms of least corruption (except that this is all tumbling out daily now there), imminent outbreak of civil war jurisdiction, blah blah ….

Shumba Energy and Solarcentury Africa have signed a co-development agreement to utilise their combined capabilities and strengths to deliver renewable energy and storage projects together in Southern Africa.

This follows the company’s recent announcement that further to an extensive review of the company's operations, the primary focus in the immediate term going forward will be on the delivery of renewable energy projects.

According to Shumba Energy chairperson, Alan Clegg the contribution of Solarcentury Africa is expected to be material within their co-development roles, with some of the key benefits they bring being in terms of providing technical support for Shumba’s role in obtaining any necessary permits, consents or licences; providing financial modelling and project valuation, engineering design and plant optimisation; EPC procurement and liaison; and providing EPCM services. “Today’s announcement is the culmination of focussed execution of the board’s defined strategy to seek and engage the best development partners to deliver utility-scale renewable energy source projects in the generation sector of Botswana and Southern Africa.
