Tecbadger - that is not the case… the s-protein affimer has the same sensitivity - it is the paired antibody which is a commercially available one that is the issue and as the RNS points out would affect all LFTs using it.
Timster I thought the antibody was to do with the control line to catch the affimers but I’m sure Monkshood will pop up soon and give more detail.

The greed is what irks me too. So many of this lot have so much money already. When is ‘enough’ enough? My financial goals are to pay off my house and be able to maintain my house with a modest lifestyle (doesn’t include excessive spending at all… a couple of kids to education and help). I can’t see more money than that making me happier … probably the opposite.

I can’t actually work out if this chap is playing dumb or is just the patsy for a bigger problem/scandal. Either way his approach and responses are indicative of complete ineptitude. He should have:
1. Thought through and analysed all aspects of that BCat has raised
2. Be fully aware of all manufacturers and their design
3. Be able to discuss intelligently on WHY he thinks frozen samples don’t cause any problems.

He is lacking on all fronts. This is getting fishier … and that isn’t a call for the sea lions! Nor the Kevins.

Monkshood - this is exactly what I don't understand. When testing a product I understand why it would be desirable to try replicate the real world in a lab (not reliant on people samples) but why on earth would they not want to investigate the 'practices' of doing so on the said manufactured samples? Surely it could invalidate assessments either increasing efficacy or decreasing as you say.

So - this paper was based on findings in autumn 2020… I don’t think this even included the Avacta test at that point. Given the detail they likely never changed their frozen sampling methods… and we had RNS to confirm that AS was unhappy with their assessment methods. I find the demeanour of this chaps comments to the times as highly evocative of someone in a political position… not a scientific one. If a company had independent e ale done and they didn’t match up why wouldn’t a scientist want to know why??? Couldn’t it mean something important about THIS virus????

And clearly there is zero desire to test on real samples… which is just ludicrous. I can only imagine they are digging their heels in as they ‘like’ their assessment. They cannot be scientists. Scientists investigate differences and similarities. Politicians on the other hand….

There are no back logs but we can see what is coming out and it is all PCR and not much at all…

The frozen pig spit strikes again. Talk about a bunch of arrogant ostriches with their heads in the sand. Doesn’t actually match up with the comments from DHSC last Feb and on top of that they stonewalled Mologic on their test … so it really does appear that the government are trying to ensure that they keep channeling the public funds to China… I can only imagine that either back pockets are being feathered or some Brexit cog shenanigans are turning.

Mologic also had assessments elsewhere and were excellent… it doesn’t add up at all.

With all due respect - the buffer expiry could just be determined by the buffer manufacturers… it could be very much dependent on regs in where they are manufactured. Does anyone know more about the buffer manufacturing process?

Doesn’t the desktop review publish new approvals on a Thursday? You never know it could be us… but has there been any detail uncovered for surescreen? Did they get gov equipment?

It is either just incredible ignorance on the subject or just too difficult to unravel the corruption. Porton Down clearly are less than transparent for historical or political reasons. I reckon the only one that has information that would be willing to spill the beans is Cummings.
