Cancellations and high demand - good or bad?1 Jun 2022 02:10
Hello all,
I previously held EZJ back in early 2021 and sold a few months later for a small profit prior to the rights issue. Really decent company imo.
Having seen all of the commotion about flight cancellations due to extreme demand, I was just interested in seeing what people thought? Having a look, there appears to be a mixed opinion.
My view is that those who are due to travel now have already booked their flights 6-12 months in advance, so the financial benefit of all of this demand has presumably already been seen in the 2021 FY results? Furthermore, even though the aeroplanes are fully booked, does that really mean good profit for EZJ? If you cancel the flight, then every passenger and the flight itself (which will not take off at that point) all become huge loss-makers. Every passenger is entitled to compensation, which is usually in excess of the cost of the ticket itself.
I was interested in opening another position in EZJ, but right now it seems like compensation costs will seriously hurt the profit side. What are people’s thoughts on all of this?
