Cobus Loots, CEO of Pan African Resources, on delivering sector-leading returns for shareholders. Watch the video here.
Cereus, do you really believe Covid, Russian driven energy crisis and inflation have been disasters created by the government and not affecting every other country????????? Really wonder what planet you are on.
How would you prefer the government to respond to these situations . The world has decided tax increases are the only solution so not really any choice. Which decisions do you think would deal with these situations and make everyone in societies life better and happier in the short term.....?
Mystifying to me why the share price remains so low despite the overall positive outlook for the business. Can't believe the government would raise the tax surcharge on the industry and expect it to be reduced. For next year I expect a significant rise in the dividend to get towards pre covid levels in addition to a further buyback. (Pity further buybacks couldn't be made at these prices given the scale of capital reserves)
Very quiet on here, despite what looks like a very healthy outlook for the business. In these difficult times the strong financial position should provide a real competitive advantage in maintaining stock availability and driving growth through gains against weaker competitors.
Hi Crystal, I bought a chunk at around 2.45 which should show a good and growing dividend yield and I am also confident of seeing good growth against that share price over the coming years. What's not to like?
I'm sure this has been clarified on here before, but as a relatively recent long term holder I am totally mystified by why these shares always seem to drop on ex- div day by far more than the value of the dividend. I can't think of any logical reason why this always seems to happen????
This is undeniably a very good day.... but we shouldn't forget that the share price should really be £5+ following the reduction in the share pool..... hopefully this is part of renewed confidence in Aviva which will take us beyond that price.
I've gone quite heavily into LGEN over the last year or so and can only see good things going forward from this excellent well run business. I suspect the Half year results will be very positive and looking very promising for the dividend.
Fully reinvested the b share return and got same number of shares as previously with 25% less shares in circulation.
Now waiting for share price to climb beyond £5 and the divis of around 8% pa. Can't really work that smoothly can it?
Could be a good time to buy at this price as availability could be strength over competition. However, service issues at the UK hub and the expanded European hub in Germany could become an issue.
I have sold a tranche of my Lloyds holding today to buy more Aviva and LGEN as the future prospects and shareholder returns look promising at these prices. Be interesting to see how the Aviva consolidation pans out ....
Time will tell if I have made a good move :)

You don't need to repeat anything...... everyone is aware of what you say and I don't know why you do keep repeating it.
However, it doesn't mean that people agree with your view (or indeed the BOD's actions)
Why you struggle so much with anyone having a different view to yourself is beyond me ....
What on earth? Why would Russia feel threatened by other countries wishing to join NATO? Do you seriously think that there is a wish from NATO to invade Russia? Why should sovereign nations not be entitled to join NATO ?
Thank you for explaining to me that I can decide whether to hold or sell the share .... I really didn't realise that.
I thought I had made it clear that I felt the BOD should have returned a higher dividend and lower buyback to both increase cash return to shareholders , prevent dilution of shares and increase share value through positive market reaction.
Repeating your view (which of course I respect) over and over again does not mean that I will agree with it if you repeat yourself often enough.
LTI, this really does get tedious and it's not good to be abusive about people who don't agree with you. Don't know what else has been said on this as haven 't been reading but the problem for me is as follows -
I suspect that the negative reaction of the markets to the shareholder returns policy has knocked more value off the share price than any possible increase that the buyback might create through less shares in the market over the next year. Hence we may all be losers and the £2b wasted and lost to shareholders.
The dividend gives us cash back for investing in the business and our share of it's success to decide what to do with our return...... invest in Lloyds or otherwise.
Of course if I had known the policy I would have sold before the announcement, but now after the scale of the fall will have to wait for an appropriate fall to reduce my holding . ( Appreciate the Ukraine has clouded the picture, but feel the market reaction was undeniably negative) .
I do feel that £2b dividend and £1b buyback would have had a very different reaction providing much better balance.
Hi Gaz,
Not misled by positive posters, always believed that strong profits and healthy , fair and supported dividends would support an increasing share price over time . We have the strong profits, but not the fair returns to shareholders.........
LTI
Really not the time for your nonsense....... Profits higher , capital way higher and dividend 40% down on pre covid levels.
Really don't want to hear your views repeated again as I still don't agree with you that buybacks are a better solution for shareholders.....
I am genuinely shocked and appalled by this mornings announcement to investors. I can see no justification whatsoever for not returning dividends to pre covid levels with profits higher and capital resources significantly higher.
There is clearly no intention for this to return to providing reliable income for shareholders.
As a very long term holder who has suffered the pain and made the clearly wrong decision to stick with it as seeing a positive forward picture , this is the final straw for me and time to reduce my holding and move on....
