HAT, anyone doubting the JV deal with NC and these terms is insane or has never had to actually do a business deal thems lives so unqualified. Bringing in a major on one of your targets that pays for the exploration, initially for nothing in return mind you, is an excellent deal.
It gets things going, eventhough it will leave us with only 30% of that target. But 30% of a large cake is soo much better than 100% of no cake at all.

Well PG, they may be right as we are seeing a lot of smallish sells (apart from one fat onejust now) all morning and bigger buys.

Must be that the smaller PIs don't understand or trust the news and the bigger wallets do understand and beleive.
People waited all this time for more IIs and now they arrive they sell.

That's incorrect Spy as most of the power produced is still just as polluting as fossil fuels. Plus the lifecycle analysis of electric cars shows a much larger carbon footprint than simple fossil fuel cars.

So, although it's good to think of the environment, it's most definitely not the solution to 'just' get electric cars.
Clean energy and fuels is the solution and that may very well not be electric, as in electric from the dirty grid.

But I guess that's for another board so I'll let it rest now ;-)

If one hasn't read it, read the discussion between PG and News last night about the drill holes and the presentation they discuss. Very telling in combination with NC bringing in two extra drills, which by the way they are not obligated to do. They must have seen something that they really liked.

Another thought, why on earth would you release only part of hole 11. They did not show us what was at the deep end of hole 11. Why would you do that AND bring in two more drills???

Only one reason I can think of...

You state that in terms of scale HAV is now much deeper and wider. The wider you follow up with had006 and I agree with the deeper. However, the wider you don't follow up. Surely this does not come from had011 as that does not make the find 'much' wider (if at all) does it? At least not from what I can see in the cross sections on the GGP website.

Don't know Tom, and bidding for NC will not directly close out GGP. However, if I was Rio I would want to have the assets that GGP seem to have and one of them is already in NC hands. Well, going that way anyway.

So, GGP seems to have the plays, NC has the tools, as in telfer plant. Therefore I would think IF Rio really is interested they may have to do both in one go. Then NC and GGP's interests are aligned instead of opposed. Makes it harder for Rio I would say and therefore better for us.

We'll see.

Apple, although an older article and Deutsche Bank's track record in the market recently not very good, I do believe there is a lot of logic in this approach. Rio needs to diversify if it wants to keep it's large II on board.

If a deal between Rio and NC happens it will happen really fast and if you're not invested you will miss the opportunity. Look at what happened to tree. There may even be a lock out for a couple of months while negotiating a deal.

Trust there is already talk in the background, similar to what HAT indicated recently about another player at the table when the JV between NC and GGP was done at those levels.

All to play for here, but not one to be sitting on the side lines.

What did someone yesterday say, "win big or lose big". My money is on win big, one way or another with this GGP.

Whatever it reminds you of Antigua, the comparison with EG is just ridiculous as we have found quite a bit of gold already at HAV. What did we find at EG? Indeed.... That is why there is a JV at HAV with a major and there was no JV with anyone at EG.

RIO applied for the grant because RIO I'm sure has a department that looks at and applies for grants. Been there done that. Part of the internal investment and approval process.

There is always that communication risk with Majors, Mercedesman. Just like I said before the last quarterly update, which indeed said next to nothing. Personally I don't think that they will provide much of an update on HAV in this quarterly either. It just seems counter intuitive for a major to provide much news in these docs.

But one way or another there will be news in the coming weeks and I expect it to be good.

Tiburn, 'drill in Africa' does not necessarily mean 'drill FROM Africa'.
Could be anybody's drill that is currently used on a drill somewhere in Africa. We really don't know.

v11jas, that is the exact question I have been asking myself ever since the diamonds story started. I can't answer that question, 'the most rich/largest alluvial diamond deposit on the planet earth'. It makes it sound to good to be true but maybe I'm just missing the point. Surely it's not just that they are friends with the heritage community is it? So if not, then what is it? What does Vast have that the likes of Arosa haven't? Do they have a sort of 'indepdness' from the Zim government because of the past treatment? Is that it?

Irish, after that experience the last thing you want to do is use them again. I think they should cut clean of that outfit and get a proper drilling company and rig on site. Maybe more expensive but in my experience if things go wrong once it can be their fault, if you chose them again and it goes wrong again, it really is AAOG mistake.

Can we afford that kind of gamble? I should think not.
