The Belgium, French, Dutch took on a lot of extra tax staff in preparation for a hard Brexit in March, as it did not happen they have not had much to do and seem to have been giving some business a hard time. One local to me was assessed for around 15M by Belgium tax authorities, finally reduced to 300k but it cost the company an additional 70k in consultant fees to resolve.

Well, I am certainly learning how this works in practice. The big dump at the end of the day was textbook shorting from what I have read. Shame did not read this until after I bought some earlier! Do you think that they will try and keep it under £4.00 today then do another dump tonight ? Short positions updated at 3.30pm so will be interesting to see where things stand.

Cheers BigB, It will be interesting to follow how this one goes and note when they close the shorts. It is mot something I have ever seen explained in depth, there must be someone that knows how it is usually 'played'?

I am interested if they have actually sold all of the shares they have borrowed and if it only shows on the short trackers once they are sold. Can they be retained then returned (plus fees) if the price goes up or sold in a splurge tomorrow to try to push through 4.50/4.00 stop losses? just trying to understand how they are used in practice.

Odey increasing their shorts at the end of last week when sub £5.00 was what made me sell out on te rise at the start of the week. Do they actually have had to sell the shares that they borrow for it to show on the short tracker or can they still be holding them?

Tricky, I agree with you re-moving target but I was quoting from the rules that Safi linked to (assuming that they apply to AIM). It may be as Kong alluded in another thread that the difference lies between holding them in treasury and cancelation.
I guess that they must have some strategy for when the present tranche runs out, be it a trading update or further buyback. It is hard to see they would have been this agressive compared to the previous one only to then stop and have the share price plummet.

Thanks, that is useful, but does 'In calculating existing issued share capital, any shares held in Treasury should be exclude ' then become a moving target in this instance, such that if another share buyback was announced all those held in treasury would not count?

Are they allowed to do another major buyback this year? At the moment they hold 13.6% of all shares in treasury - I thought that there was a desirable limit of 10% and max of 15%, is this correct (or does this not apply to AIM)?
