Today those responsible for the Junta de Castilla y León, the company TRAGSA and the management of the works held by SOMACYL have met to sign the certificate of verification of the layout in the locations of the works for the environmental restoration of the areas affected by the energy transition within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, corresponding to three projects in degraded areas due to coal mining.
These actions, financed with European funds within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan with a global investment of 70.6 million euros, will restore the Gran Corta de Fabero, Torre del Bierzo-Villagatón, and Casares and Ladil- Minas de Bierzo Alto in Igueña, with an area to recover of more than 1,000 hectares.
The term of execution of the works will be 36 months, with the commitment to create at least 180 jobs, from among the mining surpluses, the unemployed and the population of the mining regions.
The work will be carried out by order of its own means by the Empresa de Transformación Agraria, SASME, MP (TRAGSA), while the management of the works has agreed to commission the Infrastructure and Environment Society of Castilla y León ( SOMACYL), which has appointed a Mining Engineer, a Health and Safety Coordinator, a Forest Technical Engineer and a Topographer, for control and decision-making.
The restoration will include the management of waste from the extractive industries and the protection and rehabilitation of the space affected by mining activities and establishes the commitment to create annual jobs for the works, with an indication of the contracts that are produced from mining surpluses (both direct and auxiliary companies) registered in the ITJ job bank, unemployed and population of the mining districts of León and Palencia.
The projects will be carried out with a direct grant from the Institute for the Just Transition to the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León of 67,925,929.77 euros, through the Recovery, Transform
