OK, DAX short now closed at 7315. FTSE bought at (just under) gap close.

Farmer, You like this 'partial default' term, don't you? It means they are a bit insolvent.

SocGen and BNP, my canaries, are 3% down today...

The worst part of my trading is that I can watch losses accumulate but when things are going my way I am very tempted to cut and run with a profit and often exit too quickly. Hmmm, do I take profit on my DAX short or let it 'keep on running'?

It looks like Dax is ending the week down from last week.

I think it is worth noting that in the space of one hour today DAX was as high as 7523 and as low as 7410. 110 points is a hell of an hourly range, a usual daily range.

Quite a worthwhile upside gap exists on DJIA from current 12600 to last night's close of 12720.

Whoa, ANALysts (guessers) reckoned that over 115k jobs would be created in the US non-farm figure for the last month. In fact it was only 18k, of course fewer than the number of laid off workers and unemployment rate is up to 9.2%. Hourly earnings has not moved month by month . What a miss.

I find it quite amusing that tricher is the French verb to cheat.

DAX long sold for a few points' profit. Looking for a lower entry now as price seems to be moving down (mostly watching 15 mins chart) and I am more confident holding a short (despite several harsh lessons to the contrary).

PS: I know we had a target of 5965 on the FTSE shorts but I took 5975 because I lack patience.

I am long and short on DAX. I think both should show good profits pretty soon.

I note that SocGen and BNP with massive exposure to P, It, G and S debt have dropped each day since Monday. They are already over 2% down today.

Yeah, they're all down at least 1% today except Commerz, which is flat.

The share prices of BNP Paribas, Dexia, Generali, Commerzbank and SocGen could be considered as the canary in the mine-shaft. They are holding a lot of Greek debt...

Of course it is. If someone withdraws cash from their credit card in order to pay their rent they do not become a better credit risk than they were last month, quite the contrary!

Farmer, don't feel like you need to carry this board or to justify yourself. For what it's worth, I don't agree with 'tripod' or anyone else who says that you drove Mella or Takeiteasy away. I think it is fairly obvious that they wanted to try doing something else and that the latest flare-up only hastened that change. I am going to look in here and see what Anil_T1 has to say on twitter. Have cake and eat it, why not? cheers all
