Severstal will be familiar with late surcharges-see the TNK.BP tie up in Russia...AFF can't complain though it might be a loss of about $20m which is 15% of about $115m total eventually.If you're in any country you pay taxes and about 15% is about normal for that as seem elsewhere.AFF will get delays now and the SP wlll drop a while in that time,also any deals in Cameroon need downgraded.However for a £73m mkt. cap. company to get hands on about $95m of cash still isn't bad is it ? It isn't much short of a 1 to 1 windfall !

and you know I think CNE have taken too many risks recently.G/P were boarding a rig in NZ which was to drill off Alaska-they were ejected...

VPF 6.4% now even though 4 are down today,main drivers are IMG and BGC.Yes BLVN brings a bit of worry for all of us.One bloke is semi-bankrupt on the board.I do try to keep some kind of pyramid.Yet risk is unavoidable.Jibbo did warn me about Liberia-AFF may need to pay 15% extra tax for large sell deal about $20m! Also can expect long time of waiting in which SP will drop.I'm involved now in AEX who have JV with SOLO! Neither AFF nor AEX are large investments.I'd still back both.AEX have 2 new gas fields while AFF will still get about $80m for their iron ore sale.My XEL too has delays for an oil cert. and weather for the rig but do have a confirmed field of heavy oil to drill in.Yes KMR might need to pay their e10m fine on appeal sometime.They had the fatality/flood when I held the shares did very well with that.Unexpected risks are always likely in investing-look at BP and RBS which would have been in all "safe" portfolios..lol.

bad news and the SP is now bad.Most recent entrants with 15% losses if not more.I'd guess the govt. want a cut of the takings in tax.On the other hand Severstal are big would they want to mess them too much ? Just hand then the readies the 15% with no argument.Host countries have to be solvent too.

Need to take lessons from BLVN,my own AFF has a setback too,their sale of assets delayed by tax regulations..might be weeks then.I've limited these risky investments recently and prepared to be patient in any case.Also did get two not large but reasonable gains off the money so far which were realised.

Oils-yes BLVN was deserted at the altar by Dragon,bit rotten that,though posters think others might come along.Yes it shows the dangers of investing.Of course BLVN does not begin with "E" so we should have known.See my post on AGQ about deciding a "wanted cash figure" beforehand to exit at...might resolve choices though of course equally you could exit too early lol.

as said elsewhere Hargreaves and Lansdowne said on their website WRL was ISAable-tried to buy-my broker said not in ISA,got AEX instead,but GL all if you're in here.Perfectly possible this is a quirk of brokers and it can be in ISA,you'll find when you deal,or do a dummy deal.T/O or T/O's might happen in E.Africa somewhere,sometime but not being an expert unlike many here.

Your're similar to me,you see many good shares but can they move more ? I've been allowing myself on various boards to be swayed too much,my money has to go where it works hardest,and it will even though it is almost my last reserve available.

BG likes buying into areas with very low entry costs.So is he excluded from the area of it seems most interest-one I stupidly didn't get into-E.Africa ? You've got COV,AEX,SOLO,WRL,OPHR and others.BG wouldn't take over any of these as it isn't his style it appears he likes undeveloped areas.Might any spare blocks be left off Tanzania and Mozambique for CNE ?

Sorry to others,I'm trying to focus at least some oil posts here! On the XEL board now discussion about whether it is a T/O,sale or JV coming up-probably a red herring.Well,does Xcite start with an "E" or not ? (our foolproof method of detecting oil T/O candidates)...since the CNE S/D the SP hasn't moved much.There must be news sometime about the Cyprus/Lebanon area,and other areas given no publicity for months. I read the site hardly anything except India and Greenland about 10 lines on Spain and two on Nepal.What about the S.Atlantic ? Anything more about farm-ins in Greenland ? These need sorted before the summer rig season is began,need to know who is operating the rigs.
