If you are anywhere near London, and have a real interest in the history of Falklands oil, may I suggest a visit to Kew and have a read of FCO 96/369. Its contains a collection of notes from various cabinet ministers regarding an initial report from Professor Griffiths into the possibility of oil around the islands.

He was tasked by the government in 1971 to look at the geological data from around the islands and he reported back in 1975. I'm not aware of any activity in the 1960's as oil independence only became an issue during the Yom Kippor war and the subsequent oil embargo.

I'm happy to be corrected though!

There is nothing in the public domain as to where its going for the refit. Engineering of the various modules is currently taking place at Wasco in India, with

project meetings in Singapore.
