In the current climate lack of a dividend will keep the price depressed despite it being in the best interests of both the company and investors. It is particularly important to have a stronf balance sheet if they are to continue to work in the nuclear field, as if I expect, they will be seeking sub contracts. It would help if the Government produced a coherent energy policy, but that woulldn't produce as many headlines as gay marriage!

Although this is hardly the best time to be having a rights issue, it certainly seems too good to pass up at a discounted price of 14p. With our socialist government (alright, I know they call themselves Conservative), and the others in France and USA, I don't think that expecting $2000 an oz within 12 months is being fanciful!

The dividend ratio to share price was not a sufficient incentive for investors to retain thiis share when they were looking through their portfolio to provide some cash for Christmas. I would certainly expect this to bounce back in the New Year!

Why no dividend? It seems they could well afford it but preumably itis more profitable for the management to take their rewards in shares which they can sell at a profit. Very nice if you don't need the money but not so good for cash strapped investors!

Your 28Nov now looks remarkably prescient. Any company not paying a dividend now looks vulnerable, promises of future wealth are now discounted as soon as uttered. I hope by the time this gets to .58p I shall have enough cash to buy more!

on this board this looks a good long term hold but a little expensive given the possibility of dilution, as at the end of the year there was only £86m in hand. Am I being unduly pessamistic?

I really think we need to wait for the new year to make any meaningfull predictions for the longer term. There is, I'm afraid, little spare cash about. The unemployment rate may be down,but so is pay and hours; my lad at 57 is finding it near impossible to get a full time job despite being a very experienced software and electronics engineer. It may be OK in London but in the provinces its dire. There was a little brightness in the DT yesterday where it was thought that China could still continue to expand in the central provinces. I an still of the view that BMR will make us money although probably not quite as much or as quickly as we were hoping last April. Remember things always look brighter in the New Year when we have Summer to look forward to, not the ice and snow of winter. GL

I appreciate your comments, but I don't think it is quite fair to comment on PEG on the EKT board. It could give new investors the idea that EKT has a history as bad as that of PEG. As an investor in both companies EKT is a very different annimal from PEG. PEG is a very small company with a narrow if profitable product range wheras EKT has expanded to the point where it has a broad product range which makes it far less dependant on a few large orders. I have a great deal of faith in the Chairman, even though he has given me some very odd looks at past AGM's, as if wondering what that old B is up to. I do think he is one of those instrumental in the recovery of the company after the post Bulgin fiasco.

Thanks, I'm no longer day trading but I have been reshuffleing my portfolio towards mining and oil on the basis that they provide a hedge against a probable collapse in sterling! So far LGO is the only one I switched to that is showing a profit. I have great hopes of SXX although as with all miners there is a danger of dilution.

Today's trading pattern makes me think MM's are expecting some big buys! At least I was right about us being at a stage where charting is a big help. The big ? as far as I'm concerned is are people selling off 'cause they need the cash for Christmas or because they know the company is in trouble. As you can see I've bought in the expectation of a rise by the weekend! GL

Thanks for your query, it set me off to investigate further, saw David had bought 2million today and yesterday; decided it was worth scraping the bottom of the barrel and laid in another 35000@1.305! If it doesn't go up now I'm dead when wife finds out!

Interesting that Mr Lennigas has bought around 2 million shares @ 1.37 this morning. Osaki is right don't take everything on this board as gospel, you'll soon learn who you can trust, but even the best of us make mistakes.

Congratulations, it looks as if we're not far off your criterion for a long term hold! The off shore BP discovery too should attract interest. This one at least has now got to a position where charting will be a real help. Pity my maths are so useless, lol.

When there is an opportunistic take over offer like this one the directors usually try to tell us that, "we are all in this together". Is this really true. I doubt it!

In my opinion a definite yes: I remember the AGM where the board broughtout an example of the lighting to warn aircraft of tall buildings and we were warned to look away; even so it was blinding. I bought then and stayed. This was because I could see that their vision had good fundamentals behind it; Extremely powerful lighting with a very cheap running cost. I forsee the TSR being very desirable in the years ahead. As of now my two most successful shares are Dialight and Rolls Royce and I can't see that changing in the short term

It may be just 'cause I don't understsnd charting, true, but I really think charts of little value in the current chaotic financial climate. Even fundementals are little use until the Eurozone sorts itself out, Until then I think this is day trader territory.

Thanks for clarifying the position re AIE. Sorry to spark a bit but my son had the good fortune to work for one of his companies where the whole Board were well thought of by the staff. In my view if you have happy staff you have good management. Eventually they were taken over with a good profit to all including staff! You were right about the market falling with Obama's election. I shall be watching very carefully those companies that do a lot of business in the US they could all be vulnerable to a "Buy American" campaign.

I understand your cynicism about LTIPs but I don't think you need worry as far as AIE is concerned. The Chairman is definitely a very straight gentleman. Unfortunately, however good the Board, there is always the possibility of an unexpected disaster to throw their plans awry. I only give it a weak buy as I think that in the current political situation, and I doubt if it matters from a financial point of view whether the Americans elect Romney or Obama, the market is going to oscillate rather than move sharply higher or lower.

Every time I buy this share it goes down. I shan't lose any sleep over it 'cause I think it has great potential still. I still think there will be growth in emerging markets albeit slower than we have had in the recent past which should be good for AIE, its just not a share for the get rich quick merchants.
