Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Bit of a negative FT post. Not sure where / why / how they get the forecasts but they are bleak - yet recommendations on same page are buy. Any ideas?

Does anyone know offhand what NM controlling stake is (DGR + shares + his other holdings) ? Interesting time as how much could a new placing of substance dilute this holding? This is a conundrum to NM I believe.
Earthling - my view may be simplistic but it aligns with NM story of bootstrapping. So far the narrative is that they (Solg) may use BN to fund cascabel. The inference of this is not another 6-7 years. Maybe My views in your opinion are simplistic- in which case by the nature of how I am making these assumptions - so are NMs. Trying to have a reasoned debate - earthling - so please try not to shut down if views differ. Thanks.
Earthling
“disagree, this has taken 6-7 years to get to here on just one project, still a way from production.”
Agree if there was another cascabel - deep and block cave. Other tenements are touted, by Solg, as bootstrapping therefore a quicker way to obtain free cash flow. By nature these will not take 6-7 years.....
Earthling,
Have seen the following comment similar to yours banded around quite alot "Or, of course NM could indeed be planning to take this all the way and become an emerging copper/gold major in Ecuador, but why would the majors allow this to happen?"
If any of the majors bought SOLG now (Cascabel only) they would absolutely be allowing this - giving funds to develop the other tenements....a conundrum
The current levels are a retrace of c 61.8 of the 46p high. Expecting a bounce and next leg up. BNc does this tally with your charts?
Just listened to Irwin... after 6 minutes he states - in the context of Solg and BHP "as proof of that WE have " - he then corrects himself to state "SOLG have had Newcrest/BHP" etc. Are they getting closer to the deal - certainly started as if he was "part" of SOLG. Deal announced soon....?
Qali - how is level 2 looking now?
Filthy - looks like the gap from September has been well and truly filled now.
BNc - do you think that this could be bottom of C correction wave?
BNc - hello matey. Hope all is well. Good to see you posting again. What is your c wave target and subsequent targets thereafter?
It has been touted alot that a plan would be for NM to sell Cascabel which will give funds to develop one of the other tenements. It has also been touted that majors will not want to let this go and allow another major to surface.
My view FWIW is that why would a major buy this and hence fund 11+ more mines which would be the stepping stone that Solg require. Makes no sense. Suspect that the majors will want the lot based on above and not partial amount. Major companies work in long term plans and would likely forsee this scenario.
Does the drop make it more attractive a proposition for the CGP offer? Just a thought...
FR101 - what are your chart views - is Cup and Handle in play on a daily?
Cup and handle even.... ;-)
Any chartists can verify if a cup and saucer pattern is in play on the daily?
OWN. Not questioning that Irwin disagrees. That is OK about why rant? Why tweet childish and yes bitter tweets? He is running scared else why would he need to behave this way. Not professional and he is not acting as a stand up guy.
Should read 2019 FFS
Mr Irwin is clearly worried. For one that feels the need to rant so much about the offer I smell fear. Proper fear Mr Irwin. Someone is ranting that NM “will be out soon” then in 3029 or maybe 2020. I suggest that CGP will be firmly in SOLGs hands then and Mr Irwin’s SOLG fate will once again be controlled by NM - as it actually is now anyway. Good luck with your bitterness Mr Irwin.
Previously I have posted that I contacted SOLG and the news regarding the comptrollers report is "completely wrong".
SOLG are good in their responses. I asked for a copy of SOLG response and received the following back today. Note the comment about newsflow :)
I am not able to share our response and there is no timetable for the Comptrollers office to come back to us. However, please be assured that we are in regular and productive communication with the Ecuadorian government. As you may know the Mining Minister was in Toronto for PDAC and made some very encouraging comments with regards to getting these issues resolved as soon as possible.
With regard to newsflow we anticipate releasing several updates in the coming weeks.
Why did Mather offer such a low price for CGP? Sets the bar low. What we do not know but is a possibility if he is in cahoots with BHP who will come in with an offer a bit higher than SOLG.
Seems there is a tactic at play here. Why start with a high offer?
