You mean they'll be re-elected? That's the point - they are reflecting local opinion, rather than the Planners decisions.

The Planning Inspectorate has absolutely no say in who is on the various committees - that's up to the Councillors them selves - in the case of Surrey you'd image the Tory Group would be onside for UKOG but as far as I can see its mainly conservative voices who are against the development (as well as XR etc)

You understand wrong - they did nothing unlawful - it may be stupid, and it may be overturned on appeal but it wasn't unlawful. Councillors only have to listen to the Officers, they don't have to rubber stamp them.

Wressle - that was legal costs only and awarded because the Council said they'd turn up but didn't . Not a penny for delay, loss of opportunity etc etc
