I don't disagree with you about how the BoD have performed hitherto, but I have serious worries about the concept of having to delay bringing the product to market because of the lack of a pilot plant that they don't seem able to afford to build and other companies could provide. It might be just the discussions on this board that make it appear to be a problem. Some significant contributors to this board appear to be making heavy weather over it.

As far as I'm aware, most metal miners sell their raw, mined, material directly to specialist companies who then process it,

I have suddenly lost all my faith in the Empire BoD to run the company.

The key issue, once they've got the raw titanium out of the ground is what do they do with it? Stockpile it until they can scrape enough cash together to build a piddling little pilot plant? And stockpile the ore in massive piles for yonks, until they can process it?

What would be the point of that?

Figure are important in finance and in the production of a product but it's the economics of the process of production that's important.

If Empire Metals can't afford a plant, why on earth should they consider building one? If someone else can afford to do it why doesn't Empire use them?

Surely that might be better than delaying the process for years by Empire struggling to build their own pilot plant?

I was just thinking of the manufacturers building warships and fighter jets out of titanium and it occurred to me that it would be a tad unlikely for them to buy their titanium from Empire, any more than a car manufacturer would buy their steel from an iron ore miner, or an iron ore miner would run a blast furnace to turn the ore into steel. Not impossible but unlikely. So what's so different about titanium that Empire would be forced to operate the titanium equivalent of a blast furnace

There's all this talk of production but which stage of production is being talked about? Just getting the ore out of the ground is a stage in production all by itself. Many miners do just that. They then sell the ore to companies that process it into a usable form that they can then sell to other companies that can make things from it. Surely, it doesn't all have to be down to Empire Metals. I'm probably missing something obvious, but then I'm just a slow witted planner, breaking down the project into potential stages of production, with each stage being carried out by companies specialising in their particular stage of production. If I'm right, it might be more efficient and cost productive for Empire Metals to confine itself to just digging the stuff out of the ground. They could make their money from just that. I don't understand why Empire needs to go to the expense of building their own processing plant.

Can someone please explain what I'm missing?

The sp is nudging up now

The yield you get depends on the price you paid for your shares. If it was 11% when you bought that is still what you get now, regardless of what the headline yield is now. It's now 10.94% at the current price.
