So called attacks are usually the figments of someone's imagination.
A few ordinary shareholders, who don't know each other, happen to decide to sell at more or less the same time, probably to buy themselves cars or houses or holidays or somesuch. We'll never know why they sell. Coincidentally, the price might go down, So the banner headlines in the board is. There's Been An Attack on the share price! Also, as you pointed out, the share price can go down despite a larger number of buys than sells and up if the reverse happens
None of it means that attacks on the share price never occur. My belief is that such attacks are relatively rare.
The rest is down to the vagaries of the market and some shareholders over reacting.
