88e was set up to target the HRZ as identified by PB. Any Conventional would have been incidental to the HRZ drilling.

i cannot think of any O & G prospector aiming at shale would then decide to ignore any incidental conventional strikes no matter how unplanned on the IW1 drill. Conventional was aspirational to the clearly identified goal that was the HRZ. Even after the first Conventional prospects had been identified the BOD made it clear the focus was on HRZ.

This situation evolved as the HRZ prospect was reduced from 3.6bb to the new figure circa 2. bb and the conventional target increased to 2.9bb gross, net 2.2bb to 88e and that does not include, is any, what any modern 3D may show on the central or eastern IW area.

Correct me if I am wrong but 2 D was not undertaken at that time and any 3d legacy data if it existed had not been released by DOG Alaska. In effect there was no evidence that any conventional resource existed in the IW area. Indeed this area was thought to be too far south to be considered at all for conventional leads or prospects.

As for IW2 having a decision to change from Horizontal to Vertical on 88e say so beggars belief. This has been covered off in the Q & A plus presentations in London. source http://88ewiki.wikidot.com/presentations.

Exploration is high risk, take a look at the long line of O & G failures since Q3 last year and compare to any success, no matter how small their production figures may be over the same time line.

IW2 has always been a science and engineering well. This has just never been fully understood by too many PI;s

I suspect the present experts would like to have a direct line to PB for his expertise.
