...Have had it in for RMG ever since the IPO, clearly got an agenda, I'm just amazed anyone pays any attention to their ratings.

Well if the government are going to act on the findings and recommendations of the Taylor Review into the ''gig economy'' then most of RM's cherry picking rivals employing dirt cheap labour might, hopefully, find themselves not quite so able to out compete RM.

The difference between industrial action taken in Dec or Jan is negligible in my opinion, the volumes of mail and pkts aren't that much lower in Jan these days Jan strikes will cause just as much disruption to RM and put the Board under just as much pressure from shareholders. Plus any strike action in Dec will see RM win the propaganda war as the CWU and posties will be portrayed to the general public as the baddies trying to ruin everyone's Christmas

Arsenal - Utterly bizarre why you feel the need to spend so much time on here if you supposedly no longer hold any RMG... I can only assume you've got a very personal reason for having so much animosity towards posties. Perhaps your nearest and dearest left you to seek solace and satisfaction in the arms of your friendly, regular postie?

Irene, Of course mediation and further negotiation should be a good thing. However, RM have already proven that they have no desire or intention for any further meaningful negotiations and are just using this as a stalling tactic... but all it's done is delay any strike action until the most crucial time of the year.

If the injunction is successful then both sides will have to commit to a further 5 weeks of mediated negotiations, if no progress has been made the CWU will then have to issue another 2 week notice for industrial action, meaning strikes could take place from the beginning of Dec onward... the busies and most crucial period in RM's year. Meanwhile the posties have 7 weeks to further prepare themselves financially for any strike action... Well done Moya and the Board, you've played another blinder, shooting yourselves in the foot due to to your incompetence and intransigence.

@skodamanpat - You remember incorrectly, management were practically begging posties to do PAID overtime to clear the backlogs during the last strikes and were offering the equivalent of double time in some cases.

@Callerone - You obviously don't understand the way the strikes are structured to effect different sectors of the business on different days, any lost wages will be more or less made up with overtime when clearing the back log.

... Have now shown beyond doubt how utterly incompetent, intransigent and out of touch with reality they are. Firstly with their quite frankly bizarre attempt to put some kind of alternative spin on what is one of the most comprehensive and overwhelmingly supported ballots for large scale industrial action seen in modern times.... talk about alternative facts! Then trying to force the CWU to take part in a particular mediation process (which is actually defunct and completely unenforceable) when it's quite obvious that they (RM) have no real desire for further negotiation and all they're really trying to do is delay any potential strike action until after Christmas

loutro - I'm afraid I can only speak as I find, maybe I'm just unfortunate in my acquaintances and indeed relatives, but I can honestly say I don't know a single person from that generation that has anything at all approaching a social conscience or has any kind of humility or ability to accept just how good they had/have it compared to any other generation before or after them.. instead all I see is smug, conceited, arrogance, self entitlement and a complete and utter lack of self awareness. I make no apologies or offer no retractions of my original comments!

I really don't know why you're bragging about ''retiring years ago at 50'', every boomer I know retired at 50 just like yourself, anyone from that generation could retire at 50 from unskilled jobs that came with very cushy T&C's, generous pay, and ridiculously lavish final salary pensions. Just because you and the rest of your vile generation decided to break the social contract and destroy the economy by grabbing everything for yourselves. like kids who have been given the keys to the sweet shop, you really don't need to brag about it.... everyone is already fully aware of just what you and your generation have done. I'd like to agree with you about Canadas worst export but I'm afraid a certain Mr Carney has got that title well and truly sewn up... destroying the economy, creating a huge property and asset price bubble, suppressing wage growth and all whilst looking after the most wealthy... he's screwed over and screwed up an entire country, whilst our Moya has only managed to do that to a PLC.

Not only do these folks not have the slightest clue about the day to day realities of being a RM employee they also appear to be very amateurish in their approach to investing in stocks and shares... all having dummy spitting tantrums at short term volatility in the SP and not having the experience or ability to look at the bigger or longer term picture.
