The thing you have to remember when comparing us to Amazon is that they have multiple income streams that they can feed off when it comes to investing in better vehicles and premises, in fact I think I'm correct in saying that Amazon don't actually make any profit from their retail/delivery arm despite the abysmal pay and T&C's their workers endure, it's all subsidised by the vast profits they make from their digital services.

I agree with Oli, the most likely scenario is 5 day letters and 7 day parcels and I can't see many job losses at all with that, just a restructuring of duties.
Which is unfortunate for me as I'd jump at the chance of VR, alternatively I'd settle for just working weekends, doing maybe 18 hours over a sat and sun delivering pkts.

Oli - I believe the maximum is 5x5 parcels per duty, so potentially 50 parcels on a van share duty.

I'm all for innovation and offering new services and new revenue streams but if this does take off there is no way we could fit those additional parcels in our vans with our current volumes of parcels being delivered.

It always seemed to (when I was in the SIP) that the SP always had a little uplift just to prior to and on the 15th of every month... just so the employees got a little bit less for their contribution every month.

I'm pretty certain that RM actually owns most of it's fleet rather than leasing anything, they certainly don't replace vehicles when they're old and knackered like you'd expect with a leased vehicle... they just run them into the ground.

Possibly a stupid question, but with all the ongoing speculation of Kretinsky/Vesa pushing for a sell off of GLS... why would they or any investor want this?
What's the reason for them supposedly wanting to sell off the most profitable arm of RMG?
Isn't a business supposed to keep it's best performing parts and get rid of it's loss making and underperforming parts?
Is the push for a sell off just for any one off divi from the sale?

You won't get anything like the full amount you've calculated you're owed, not with the CWU negotiating on your behalf!
I successfully made my own claim last year via ACAS, hopefully if/when any resolution on this issue is found in the form of a one off final settlement payment they might have forgot about my personal claim and I get a second payout!
Either way the issue won't have an impact on the SP as you seem to be suggesting.

Oli - 680 delivery points, some of it ''double slots'' on the frame, x 3 lots of D2D's (2040 D2D's in total) is easily an hour just to prep them all in.
Then an extra 1-2 hours over the course of the week having to take D2D's to calls with no live mail, they all have to be cleared by the end of the week so you're inevitably going to have to go to lots of addresses with only D2D's and no live mail.
15-20 minutes a day delivering D2D's to addresses with no other mail soon adds up over the course of a 6 day week.

I'm far from convinced that D2D's are the big money spinner that RM senior management think they are, they seem to be under the illusion that income from D2D's is ''free money'' and that it doesn't take posties any longer to prep and deliver them along with prepping and delivering the addressed mail... as a part timer I'm booking an average of 3 hours per week overtime to prep and deliver 3 sets of D2D's

Complete and utter manipulation just like the spike up to 220p+ in August for no reason whatsoever, before it fell away again also for no reason whatsoever.

Whether you are a genuine postie with an unhealthy level of grievance against the company or just a shorter on a one man mission to try and drive the price down you really need to try and find something more constructive and fulfilling to do with your time and energy.

There is one very simple answer to all the issues in the parcel delivery sector and that is for ukgov to act on the findings of the Taylor Review and end this race to the bottom in terms of pay and T&C's for many of the ''gig economy'' employers in the sector.

OK it might mean a few pence more on the cost of a parcel but if that means that your delivery driver gets to earn at least minimum wage and be entitled to basic employment rights surely that's a small price to pay?

And if any of these gig economy employers can only survive by paying illegally low wages and not complying with other basic employment rights whilst their workforce are driving around delivering parcels from clapped out uninsured hatchbacks then they deserve to go bust.

Whilst I agree the whole DSA market is a complete farce and deeply unfair and uncompetitive to RM I was under the impression that DSA and the USO don't apply to parcels and packets and don't fall under OFCOM's remit (only letters mail) and that RMG basically have complete commercial freedom to charge what they like and accept or refuse what they like as far as parcels and pkts are concerned?

Oli - I agree, I think RMG has been subject to huge amounts of manipulation from day one.
Firstly the classic pump n' dump taking it to over 600p, then the shorters took over and have used their dark arts to drive it down to well below a realistic value.
The fluctuations in this SP have often made little sense, even when trading results are well in line with expectations it's usually resulted in a drop in the SP.
I would have made a small fortune on my holding if I'd constantly traded in and out on all the 'random' price fluctuations, this SP has seen more ups and downs than the proverbial...

Where's the increase??... £226 on average in June 2020 compared to £226 average for a 3 month period in 2019??

Or is it saying that the £226 for the single month of June 2020 equates to an entire 3 months average online spending for 2019? That sounds more like it from what I'm seeing!
