We've not had many covid tests come through yet or any of the upcoming census material, but junk mail (from all the usual suspects, Damart, Cosyfeet, Cotton traders, Easilife, Coopers etc etc etc) has been massively up this week.

Business mail (aka junk mail) has been higher this week than I've seen it for several years.

I've been saying for years, ever since the findings of the Taylor review, that we should be getting a fairer playing field once the ''gig economy'' gets clamped down on.... still waiting.

Nah, as a postie I've not really got any thoughts on any of these things, well apart from Fluorescence Minus One fluorochromes... I've always hated them.

Van sharing is a very inefficient way of working.
Since covid all the van share duties in my office have been separated and working on their own doing one round each... they're now finishing on average an hour earlier each day than they were when van sharing and an hour earlier than the other duties in the office that have always been singleton duties.

Shaunymac - I'm certainly no more knowledgeable than you but I think it's fair to say this share has always been very enigmatic with little rhyme or reason for its roller-coaster rises and falls, in fact more often than not it has acted completely contrary to what you'd expect of it in relation to any good or bad news.

See also casuals getting paid 5 hours for taking out maybe 10 pkts at the most... whilst regular posties are working 10+ hour days taking out 100+ pkts AND the mail.

I thought the plan is that the large parcels will be delivered direct from the new automated sorting centres, cutting out the D.O's altogether?
As others have said, if they are sill coming to D.O's there will sill be just as much manual sorting of them once at the D.O

Most of the recent rise in the SP has more or less coincided with the short positions scurrying back to whichever rock they usually dwell under .
So is it a case of cause or effect?.. Could the short positions see the SP was going to rise this much?... Or has the SP rose this much because they have closed their positions and are no longer using their various nefarious tactics to drive the price down?
Personally I think the current price is the minimum that I would have expected this share to be all along given the companies fundamentals, and it was just the shorters driving it down to the lower values we have previously seen.

Well it's a probably a good job that nobody, RM included, are investing in letters then... and are instead investing heavily in modern, automated parcel processing hubs.

Unfortunately at the rate the socialists in charge are printing and distributing helicopter money that £7 share in a few years might just about buy a loaf of bread.

@dnamofc - I believe parcels will be delivered via new workers (on lower wages) leaving mail and smaller packages being delivered via regular RM workers on bigger rounds.

If previous post results performance are anything to go by then there will be a dip, even if the results are well within expectations.

I agree with CrystalBallBroke... just about every other set of results we've had have seen a drop in the SP, even when those results have been fully in line with or sometimes even exceeding expectations.
Although I suspect that was due to the shorts practising their dark and devious arts, perhaps now they've all ran for the hills the SP might at least hold steady assuming the results are within expectations.

Being reported that the overall cost for Moonshot is a quite staggering £40bn... and yet the contract for processing, delivering and collecting the test kits is worth only £1bn even though that has to be the most labour intensive aspect of the whole programme.
I'd love to know what the other £39bn is being spent on

Even without the 'help' of shorters this share just consistently manages to deliver disappointment.
