White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre underlined on Friday that the global export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe has increased by 84% in comparison to the previous year, rising up to 20 million cubic meters on the annual level.
"Putin is weaponizing energy," stressed the press secretary, noting that Washington is cooperating with its allies to provide additional gas stockpiles to Europe ahead of the winter season, coupled with efforts to reduce EU demand for natural gas through energy efficiency and clean energy deployment.
"The path to energy security requires a doubling down on our efforts to transition to a clean energy economy and we continue to work with the EU on this shared goal," Jean-Pierre concluded.
