Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu (pictured) on Saturday visited the command post of a unit of the nation's troops that are stationed in southern Ukraine.
According to the defense ministry Shoigu "inspected the forward command post of one of the formations of the eastern military district in the South Donetsk direction." The minister heard a report by the commander of the group and its staff officers on the current actions of the troops.
During their invasion of Ukraine over the year, Russia's top military leaders have made only sporadic trips to the frontlines.

The limit for household energy bills in the United Kingdom will stay at £2,500 a year for another three months, The Times reported on Friday citing government sources.
As per the report, UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt will retain the energy price guarantee for another quarter until wholesale prices go down enough to raise the ceiling. The Whitehall is said to have told energy companies to prepare for the current cap to remain in place.
The decision is estimated to cost the government about £3 billion. Typical household energy bills were supposed to increase to £3,000 a year from April, causing household bills to rise by 20%.
