I don’t think BASF will be in a hurry to sell,they have a 6 month lock up period anyway.

I think they will be happier they will now own shares they can sell anytime.

But will happily wait to see if Harbour can add value.

If Harbour can add value, then someone might in a couple of years want to buy the stake as a potential take over of Harbour as consolidation of the industry occurs.( I expect the smaller players to all disappear ).

It’s an article I posted yesterday, and it really only says they would be a good fit, because they are both doing some renewables.

Also BP sp is distressed, and they have about $10 billion in cash sitting around.

And finally our chairman is Norwegian so might be able to bring the 2 sides together.

It’s the same as all the other hopes of bids, but this one does make a certain logic, and does have some appeal to me

Would not use it in a investing strategy, but it might slowly grow legs

It still has to be a lot higher than sp now.

I would maybe be happier with this than a US oiler,( just me personally),

So not the £10 I want from US.

So should it be £8 like I want from Shell ?

I think since it would be nearer a merger of equals,( only nearer as think they would be in charge), would maybe settle for £7.50.

I think at £7 we would have been taken advantage of.

Sp has reached £5.70 ish several times so a 20% premium takes it around £7.

So £7-£7.50 is my answer.

It’s very left field but the more you think about it ,the more you realise someone somewhere has actually come up with a good idea.

It remains to be seen if it’s a Great Idea, but time will tell.

It was never a company I thought of for a merger, but it’s definitely an interesting shout.

I will note however it seems to be the season for merger whispers as that’s several of my shares with stories this last week.

Maybe a quiet period.

This is a very knowledgeable board.

They all remember that they had to learn by making mistakes.

Access to this kind of information was hard before the internet.

There are very few really stupid questions.

Just to add it makes sense to have your highest yielding shares in your ISA,if you have some in and some out of ISA.

It’s rather obvious but it makes even more sense now with lower limit for tax.

And has the benefit of more to reinvest in tax free ISA each year.

Would have thought results day 6 th Feb would have been a good day to be able to announce new CEO, but feel although it will be nearly 6 months since Looney left by then, that an outsider unlikely to be chosen by then,as it only really leaves 4 weeks to get there.

If it’s announced 6 th Feb it’s an insider, if there is no announcement it’s an outsider.

Just trying to read the tea leaves, and make 2 plus 2 = 5.

Oh dear we were a bit off with our careful considered guesses.

It really did not seem like we were being greedy expecting a £1 rise in a year.

Especially in Feb when we were off to the races.

Your judgement is very negative,and there are many on here with similar views.

If that was the case it really would not matter who our next CEO was.

I’m still of the belief that the right boss can change things.

There have been many sleeping giant companies,re-awakened by the right person for the times.

BP as a company is not totally broken.

Some of the sleeping giant companies were in a much worse state than BP, who is making lots of cash with a promising pipeline of projects.

So many people knock BP but expect someone to take over BP, so there must be something worth rescuing.

Wither our next CEO can unlock this hidden value, that is the big question.

I’m still optimistic,that there is still a lot right, and the right leader will change enough to make the future of BP theirs and not Bernards

Last set were on the 8 th Dec

Will we get a new set of buybacks tomorrow just to give sp a boost in time for people reinvesting their dividends to be caught out .

A decision by BP to suspend shipments of oil and gas through the Red Sea has sparked fears that petrol prices could soar.

The oil giant’s decision to pause operations in the region came after a series of attacks on vessels by Houthi militants in Yemen, as BP blamed the “deteriorating security situation”.

Economists are predicting that the move could pile pressure on motorists at the pump as the news drove the price of Brent crude up by 3pc on Monday, rising above $78 per barrel.

Natural gas prices also jumped 4.4pc as investors priced in increased shipping costs and longer journey times.
