Daltry, or wire ???
Correct, rov frendly
R.O.V, will disengage old rope and then connect new rope
My take on the rope burst is,the winching system would be on deck with the rope led through a divertor set up ending up with the rope above and centre to the moon pool,,in that case the rope could have burst meny meters from the bouy
Cabo, can I ask? We’re are we tieing back to
How long is a piece of rope, justification daft ?
Trivia, Doc T will be well miffed with the rope saga, imagine how Shell felt when the Brent Charlie hook up ran over
Foil by three years, lots of talk about contracts, in the end shell could only say to their hook up contractor WIMPEY
You will never get an other contract from us, And they never
The difference being you can pre set a power pack to give you the max power to lift the calculated intended weight you can’t do this with a load cell
The winch would have been powered by a hydrolic power pack within that pack there is a load indicator read out
Gauge ,definitely not a in line load cell
Think this rope thing is a yarn, maybe all lifting arrangements designed for in water weight,,weight increased as bouy entered moon pool then bang, big mistake to make but not impossible
Not going to talk about the rope again I will go to the spiders web in dyce next crew change and get the full story
Nigwit don’t worry you will get your 6.5 % back and more

Like a lot of posters on here I would love to know what happened, my thoughts are if the rope , wire or fibre fully parted then it would be classed as a dropped object (the bouy) and reported and investigated as such, now if the let’s call it rope only partially burst it may have been a case of ok let’s lower the load back to its starting position no harm done nobody injured no damage to plant or equipment except for the rope, in that scenario it would be easy to say no damage to the bouy, could be that the ROV was deployed to release the partially damaged rope, the still big unknown for me is was it wire or was dynima replacing a soft rope is easy, replacing a SWR is a different beast
Biffadog, can you tell me if it was wire as in steel wire or dynima fibre rope, cheers
